WE recently noticed the name of an account was changed (abbreviated). We would like to know which user made this change so that we can ensure it does not happen again. Anyone know of an audit trail that will track this change?

Is there a way to narrow the audit trail to changes made to the account itself or to the chart of accounts?
Hello there, @TristanRobin.

I found this article very interesting and instructive.
I have one question about narrowing the audit trail.
Is there any way to filter the research based on the "Last modified by" name?
Thank you.
Best regards,
Sandra M.
Thank you for all the precious information.
I have one more question about narrowing the research.
Is there any way to filter the report by "Last modified by" in order to see all the transactions made by a single person?
Thank you.
SM
Thanks for joining this conversation, tata21. I'm here to provide additional information on how the Audit trail works.
For now, the option to filter the report by "Last modified by" name is not yet available in QuickBooks Desktop. In QuickBooks, we value our customer's feedback and ensure to improve our customer's experience. I'll take note of this so our developers might add this feature for any future product updates.
In the meantime, I encourage you to visit our QuickBooks blog page to keep updated with the recent news and product release:

Glinette,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
I have to find out when, during the past 2020, one of the users has made a particular change to an existing transaction. The trail history report is super long. What is the best way to find what am I looking for? What is your suggestion?
Thank you.
SM
Hi Sandra,
I see that it is more convenient to be able to narrow the search in the Audit trail report. However, this option is not available. What I can suggest is do your search per period, like per month or per week. Then, export the report to Excel, so you can easily remove the data that you don't need.
If you have other questions, you can always go back to this thread. Have a good day!
Thank you.

I've recently cleaned up my Quickbooks "Other names" list and need to run the audit trail report and would LOVE to be able to exclude all the changes related to moving or updating names. Is there a way to filter out or exclude changes to names?
Hey there, @JulieK99.
Thanks for following the thread. I hope you're enjoying this beautiful day so far. I'm happy to provide some insight into the audit trail report.
Although having the ability to filter name changes out of the report would be a great addition to the report, it's not available at this time. I've submitted a feedback request to our product development team on your behalf, so this can be considered in a future update.

Is there a way to track who made changes to the company file settings? Specifically, the toggle to allow inventory to go negative. If not who, is it possible to see when it was changed?
Greetings, @BT714.
Thanks for joining in on this thread. Let me share some insight into this matter.
At this time, the Audit Trial only shows transactions that were entered or changed. You could possible take a look at your inventory stock status reports to see a vague timeframe when things started to go negative. However, it won't tell you the exact date or who did it.
I hope this answers your question. If you have any other concerns, feel free to let us know. We're always here to lend a helping hand. Bye for now!
I just want to make it known that being able to drill down to the person who modified the transaction would be very helpful. I am hopeful that in future updates this may be a way in which to filter the report.
