Transfer Quickbooks Desktop license from PC to Mac

Hi,

I cannot for the life of me, register Quickbooks (Desktop) 2024 on my new Mac.

I have: Intuit Quickbooks Plus Annual Subsrciption Premier.

A few weeks ago, I got my new laptop and downloaded and installed Quickbooks 2024.  I migrated the company file from the Desktop to the Macbook.  It lets me open and work on the file and all works great, but keeps saying "YOu have 15 more uses of Quickbooks blah blah blah"

So I click on Register and I type in my LIcense number and Product Number and it just says "Invalid Number" so I click on Register Later and I can keep using the program.

I don't see the option to DE-Authorize on the woldWindows laptop so I can register it on the new Macbook.

I can still open Quickbooks on this previous PC and it works fine and gives no account issues but obviously the company file is old now since I am working from the new Macbook.

PLEASE HELP all the guides online are wrong and stupid.

Thanks.

I'm here to provide you the information you need in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to Mac.

It's important to note that your annual subscription is uniquely designed for compatibility with QBDT Premier for Windows computers only and cannot be transferred for use on QBDT for Mac due to differences in the software. This is why if you try to register the product on a new MacBook, you will receive an "Invalid number" message.

In addition, if you've used a trial to move your company file or have an existing QBDT for Mac plan and it's nearing expiration, a message will appear indicating "You have 15 more uses left." It is essential to keep track of your usage count, as once it reaches zero, you will be unable to access the program.

Furthermore, QuickBooks Desktop for Mac is no longer offered to new subscribers in the United States. The deadline to purchase a new subscription was September 30, 2024. However, existing users will still be able t to renew their subscription. To know more about these changes, check out this article: Can't buy QuickBooks Desktop as a new US subscriber.

In the meantime, you can continue using your previous computer to get back to work. To ensure that you're company file is up-to-date, you can manually reenter the newly added data or migrate your QBDT Mac file to Windows again.

On the other hand, if wish to access the program in your new machine, consider using cloud hosting services.

Lastly, to help manage your QuickBooks Desktop account and services using Customer Account Maintenance Portal (CAMPs), I recommend reading this article: Manage your QuickBooks Desktop subscriptions and services.

Feel free to reach out with any further questions regarding the migration of your company file from QuickBooks Desktop to Mac. I'm here to assist you. Take care.

You can't use the license code of QB Desktop 2024 Windows on QB Desktop 2024 Mac. You need to run Parallels on your Mac to use QB Desktop Premier Plus. Otherwise, you should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA and they can share a workaround for your case.

So I am completely locked out of my Quickbooks company file on my brand new computer?  This is completely unacceptable and is disturbing my business.

You offered no solution except to say that there is no solution.  What exactly am I supposed to do now if I cannot buy the Mac version?  Why was this not stated in the Convert Quickbooks Windows files to Mac tutorials on this website???

So what am I supposed to do?  I am completely locked out of Quickbooks and I cannot access my company file, this is messing up my business.

Of course I transferred the file to Mac already and had it working.  Why would you even offer this as an option if the license does not work for Mac?  I am so toast if I canot get to my company file.

@BaylightContracting

When did you purchase your Premier Plus license? Last week?

March 27, 2023 when I first started this company.

Chrea sorry that post was meant for the other user response, not for your post.  I dunno why it became a sub-post of your reply.

Your option is very limited. I agree that you should contact Fiat Lux to find a workaround running QB on your Mac.

We totally get that change can be a bit of a curveball, especially when everything is already been working fine, but we were aiming for something new and even better for your needs. Allow me to provide a workaround for this, BaylightContracting.

QuickBooks Desktop for Mac and QuickBooks Desktop for Windows are two different platforms. That's the reason why both works with separate license.

Also, we discontinue products that no longer align with the company's goal or market demands, that's why we allocate resources and focus on innovation and growth in other areas for the company and the customer itself.

As Chrea stated, you can collaborate with an IT expert to install a virtual desktop to run parallels for your Mac and use it with your QuickBooks Premier.

Another option is to consider utilizing cloud hosting to access QuickBooks Desktop software via cloud. With cloud hosting, this is cloud-based file sharing and one data center where your information is up to data and accessible to your whole team no matter what device they work on.

Additionally, you can read these articles to give you more information when working your data through cloud-enabled QuickBooks Desktop:

If you have any other questions when using QuickBooks Dekstop or need a hand exploring fresh options, just give us a shout. We're always right here, ready and eager to assist you with any concerns you may have. Have a nice day!

So no longer being able to access my company file on my new computer is something new and better for my needs?  Yes that makes sense.

What about switching to QB Online?  It seems I have no other option?

Allow me to give some clarification on transferring your company file from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), BaylightContracting.

As stated by my colleague, we discontinued offering QuickBooks Desktop for Mac as it no longer aligns with the company's goal or market demands.

However, as a workaround, you can look for a third-party migration tool to convert your company file from Mac to Windows since you have an active subscription on your QuickBooks desktop for Windows. From there, you can work on your windows computer to initiate a migration once the file is converted.

Additionally, I suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Desktop support team for more help with this issue, especially since you're unable to access your company file.

Should you require further assistance about transferring company files on QBDT, please don't hesitate to reply. The Community is always here to lend a hand.

I booted up the old laptop and manually made entries to get the company file up to date.

I then exported to Quickbooks ONline and I am doing a trial version of that.

You may want to reconsider what is the company's goals and market demands.  I am standing here as a customer and you have been abusing me for past 12 hours.  Reading the reviews for Quickbooks Online tells me everything I need to know that it probably will not work for me.

I am traveling today but will be calling in to customer support to try to find a real solution to this terrible situation caused by Quickbooks.
