Here's a fresh new Hell thanks to whatever the QB engineers are up to today - how do I get the suggestion pop ups to turn off?? Every time I open an invoice today it's suggesting I put a value in the QTY cell of the invoice line items - YEAH, NO KIDDING. This is BILLING 101 guys, there's NO NEED FOR THIS NONSENSE to start popping up on every task I try to do!!! Please help - I can't handle this kind of brain damage every time I try to just do my job.
Hello there, @katie-hill. I appreciate your input from every angle.
Turning off permanently the suggestion pop-ups is unavailable. Those are designed to guide and suggest you on how to optimize your QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience.
In the meantime, what you can do is to click on the X or No, thanks buttons to prevent the pop-ups from showing up again.
I know how the feature you want would be helpful in the program. The Community recognizes feedback and suggestions from customers like you which can help us improve our product and services to our customers' delight.
While we continue to make your experience with us even better, I recommend visiting our QuickBooks Blog to get the recent news, information about the latest features, and updates.

This to me is a totally unacceptable response. These fields and suggestions continue to be completely inaccurate - and I cannot be adding hundreds of extra clicks to the tasks I have to complete each day simply to remove these needless, bothersome, time-consuming 'suggestions' that DO NOT IN ANY WAY ENHANCE MY EXPERIENCE AS A USER. IT HAS QUITE THE OPPOSITE EFFECT AND ADDS TIME TO MY WORKDAY THAT IS SIMPLY NOT AVAILABLE. Please get your team to devise a way so seasoned users can turn off ALL SUGGESTIONS at their pleasure - they do absolutely nothing of value for me or my colleagues.
Hi there, katie-hill.
I can definitely see how an option to turn off suggestions could be useful for some users. As my colleague, MirriamM, mentioned, there isn't a setting which makes these tips not display.
I've gone ahead and sent feedback to our Product Development Team about this. If you'd like to submit your own suggestion, you can while signed in.
Here's how:
1. Use your Gear (⚙) icon.
2. Click Feedback.
3. Enter your suggestions and/or comments.
4. Hit Next.
5. Choose Skip and send message.
6. The available drop-down menu can be used to pick an appropriate category.
7. Select Send message.
Your feedback is definitely valuable. Once submitted, it will be reviewed and considered in future updates. Feature requests can be tracked through our Customer Feedback page.
You'll be able to stay up-to-date with the latest news about QuickBooks Online in Intuit's What's New in QBO Archives.
If there's anything else I can help with, feel more than welcome reach out anytime. Have a wonderful day!
Ummm - I just turned mine off! While I was on the invoice screen, clicked the gear icon and at the bottom there was a "smart suggestions" button I could turn off.
By the way - it was driving me CRAZY also! :)
When on the invoice screen. Click the gear icon in the upper right - toward the bottom of the drop-down, click the "smart suggestions" button to off. I agree - it is a ridiculous featrue!
Ugh. I can't find how you turned it off. It's real pain in the arse.
THANK YOU- SAME!! OUR ENTIRE OFFICE IS GOING CRAZY DAY ONE. PLEASE SOMEONE MAKE THIS DANTE'S 5TH CIRCLE OF HELL END!!
You are SO right! This thing is constantly interrupting and reminding me to do EXACTLY what I was getting ready to do, except that now I also have to click this dumb suggestion box so I can see the invoice. Idiotic, time-sucking, and TYPICAL QUICKBOOKS that there is no way to turn it off!
Dear QBO - we do not need more inane things to do in our day. Please fix this or just get rid of it for the 95% of users who don't need to be reminded to put a value in for whatever they are billing.
AARRGGHH!!!
The suggestion icon started showing up for me today when I was using our recurring invoices for last week sales reports. Needless to say, I have no need for it and I have no way of turning it off. If I click the gear while in an invoice, it says nothing about turning smart suggestions, or whatever it is called, off
Same! I can't find a way to shut it off anywhere. I love paying to be annoyed lol.
Hitting "X" does NOT prevent the pop ups from showing up again. They show up EVERY SINGLE TIME you go in and try to do anything. At all. Every time. This is beyond infuriating and yet another huge waste of time, brought to us courtesy of Quickbooks.
Spent about an hour waiting for my "chat in 5 minutes" - was told that there is no way to turn this off, but that they are aware that people hate it. No time frame, no way to get a response, just suggested I offer feedback. Stupid waste of time.
This feature is not only just useless but a barrier to conducting business as it takes away time, confuses the user, and emotionally exhausting to the point everyone in our team are cursing this feature. There should be an option to TURN OFF this disruptive thing, if it is supposed to be a "suggestion." It is not a suggestion, it is unsolicited forced popup that interrupts and distracts from the main working process. It can easily confuse novice users as well. We are at a point where we are considering another platform because of this!!!!

This has caused unnecessary frustration for myself and my team. I'm surprised the Quickbooks staff allowed this to go live without a way of disabling it. This needs to be set as a top priority for the development team. Put it as an option in the Quickbooks Labs so we can use it only if we want.
INVOICE SUGGESTIONS ARE THE MOST INCREDIBLY ANNOYING FEATURE YOU COULD COME UP WITH!!!!!
I ALREADY SPENT OVER AN HOUR TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO REMOVE THEM. WE HATE THEM!!!!!
those "smart" suggestions are the results or letting programmers with NO BILLING EXPERIENCE take care of the design of the program.
They are the most horrendous and annoying possible feature
I agree, these popups are the most aggravating and annoying actions some genius thought of. Then to put them in place with no option of getting rid of them is absurd. Just my 2 cents, QBO is NOT my favorite accounting program.
i just tried this, apparently it only works for the Primary user. I don't even see the "Smart Suggestions" toggle as a secondary user. QBO really screwed the pooch with this feature.
Totally agree. All the pop-ups are so annoying. How doe they know what amount we want to enter on our invoices. So stupid. I just want to turn the "suggestions" off and send an invoice normally. Probably need to look for another software.
Finally figured it out (I think!). I was going to the wrong gear icon. You have to be in an actual invoice screen (not the home screen, not the invoice overview screen, not the customer screen, etc.) and when you click on the gear icon there you'll find the option people are mentioning to turn off smart suggestions. See screenshots.
Katie - totally agree with you! It's as if they are appealing to fourth graders to buy their product.
There is simply no reason that a preference (either mine or company wide) can't be added quickly to the programming code to accomplish this suggestion.
Our time is valuable, we shouldn't be spending it on useless 'clicks' in the process.
Bob
Hey moderator, I do not want your guides, I do not want your suggestions, I despise artificial intelligence.
Thank you! I agree, this was a ridiculous feature. Intuit should pay you for solving a problem that their moderator would not solve.
