Unable to do Backups

I am unable to do backups.

When I try to do one, a window appears with the following message:  "QuickBooks found a problem with the Employee SIN field for ??."  Is there a way to correct this?

Thank you

First troubleshoot, run the Verify/Rebuild data utility.

Unable to do Backups

Let's get this working for you, cattle3611.

Updating the system to its latest release version is a good start when it comes to fixing program-related issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Once done, make sure all the employee's SIN are entered correctly. Here's how:

  1. Click Employees at the top menu bar and select Employee Center.
  2. Double-click the employee's name.
  3. Check the Social Insurance Numbers section.
  4. Hit OK.
  5. Repeat as needed.

If all the SIN are correct and nothing is missing, you can proceed with backing up your data.

However, if the issue persists, verifying and rebuilding process will help fix the issue. Here's an article for your reference: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know how it goes by leaving a reply, I want to make sure I've got you covered.

Unable to do Backups

Hi Rose-A

I also get a second window which states that there is a problem with the Employee DOB

I reentered all the SIN for each employee.  I ran an employee report and all the employees have a SIN and DOB.

I wasn't able to verify the data as Quickbooks has to do a backup before it can verify the data.  However, the backup worked with the rebuilt data .  But once the process was started, the windows appeared again and I wan't able to rebuilt the data.

We are using Quickbook Premier 2021 for nonprofit, version 31.0.4007.0

Is there something else I can try?

Thanks for your help

Unable to do Backups

Thank you for sharing more details and following my peer/s recommendation, @cattle3611.

Let's get back to work and run troubleshooting steps to create a backup file and resolve unexpected errors. In your case, I suggest downloading and installing the QuickBooks File Doctor to fix them.

Running this tool will get everything back to normal, so let me know how it goes.

Once done, close and reopen your QuickBooks Desktop and check if there are still some missing information.

Keep me posted with the results. I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you. I'll be here to help. Have a great day.
