Unable to move items on invoices

As the title states, I have tried various methods of adding time and parts to invoices and it will not allow me to move items up or down the invoice via the normal click and drag method. This is preventing me from arranging the invoices and so I am unable to send out invoices today!

I also am having trouble with the time sheets as well, I cannot change the week so I am only able to view this week.

I really hate quickbooks there are constant issues with it and tech support sucks. If I didn't have so much time invested in it I would be switched already but I am looking into alternatives.

Thanks all.

Unable to move items on invoices

I can imagine how important it is for your to have the ability to move items on invoices to keep things organized and efficient. Allow me to offer some insights and details that will help you optimize the process, Thatold.

We haven't receive similar reports on this issue. To ensure that you're able to drag up and down items on your invoice and change the week of your time sheet, be sure that you're logging in to an active account.

If you've made sure that you're logged into the correct account and you're still having issues, we've got your back! We can perform some troubleshooting steps to help resolve this. Here's what you can do:

You can log into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using incognito mode and using the shortcut keys below:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

This mode deletes cookies and browser history leaving your browser clean and easy to access any websites and error-free. After that, double-check if you can already move items on the invoice. If so, go to your main browser and clear the cache to fix the problem. Cached files and data can sometimes cause a webpage to reload. Also, some browsers have a setting that can cause a page to reload automatically. On the other hand, if it is still not working, you can switch to another supported browser.

However, if the issue persists, you can contact our support team. They can investigate and verify the situation. If it's a new issue, they can create an escalation ticket for further review by our higher-tier support.

Moreover, when a customer pays an invoice, you'll have to record the payment to connect it to the invoice to balance your account. Check out this article how you can record payment and mark the invoice as paid: Record Invoice Payments in QuickBooks Online.

Fill me in if you have further questions when moving items on the invoice and changing the week of time sheets. The Community folks is always here to assist you. Have a nice day!

Unable to move items on invoices

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately incognito mode did not solve this. I also tried creating another new invoice in case it was an issue with the invoice but that did not help either. Here I go to spend the next few hours on chat support. Wish me luck.

Unable to move items on invoices

So, a couple months later here is an update. While on the phone with tech support for a few hours, I kept trying to move items around while they were "looking in to the issue" and asking me to try again, and eventually, apparently for no reason at all, it just started working again. The QB person was of course happy, but could not provide me a reason for it not working in the first place, in case I encounter this issue in the future I wanted to know. So it worked for about a month and now I am faced with the same issue again, frequently if someone else/other user adds the items, but also occasionally if I add the items. They keep providing the same copy and paste solutions when others ask for help on this topic, I wonder if anyone else is still having this issue and what has solved it for them.
