Before this update I was able to use the arrow key to move to the next line. Now I have to click on each line if I need to make changes. I have 50+ items on each invoice and this is really slowing down productivity. Does anyone have a fix for this?
Good evening, @SK Food Supplies.
Welcome back to the Community!
To get clarification, let's try using some troubleshooting steps to help eliminate any errors or glitches that could be occurring. Here's how to use a private browser or incognito window to help out:
If this works, please go back to your regular session and clear your browser's history. If not, please try another support browser.
Reach back out and let me know if these actions worked for you. I'm only a post away!
Hi Candace,
Using incognito *private browsing* did not work. I cleared my history and that still didn't work. I used a different browser and that didn't worth either. Let me know if there is anything else I can try.
It's good to see you back, SK Food Supplies.
I appreciate you performing some steps to resolve the issue you're having when creating an invoice. Allow me to join the thread and provide information about the new invoice layout.
Currently, using the arrow key to move to the next line when creating an invoice is no longer possible. Instead, with the new update, you can use the Tab key on your keyboard to move to the next line.

Agree. This is super frustrating. Just came to look and see if there is a fix for this. Appears not. I have submitted feedback as well. Let's hope they fix this quickly. Severely slows down the invoice entry process.
This is awful! I have invoices that are 50 or more lines. I used to be able to arrow down in them and complete one in a matter of minutes. Now I must tab or use the mouse and it is VERY, VERY time consuming. FIX THIS!!!
Currently, using the arrow key to move to the next line when creating an invoice is no longer possible
WHY IS THIS NO LONGER POSSIBLE - IT MAKES NO SENSE TO DISABLE THIS FEATURE. It now takes 1000's of key strokes to do mass data entry into QBO. Absolutely terrible decision to disable this. No reasoning. We will not use tab 1 million times. Just make the arrows work again - it's that simple.
This is UNACCEPTABLE! There is no reasoning to disable keyboard arrows - you have added 1000's of extra keystrokes for the user trying to enter large invoices/estimates with many line items. We pay for this software, and you continue to make it WORSE. Just fix it - enable arrow function - how hard is that?
Just chiming in again to say how this is growing increasingly frustrating. I was hoping it would be fixed in short order. I can't imagine this is a hard fix. Just enable the same arrow key functionality we used to have. This is EXTREMELY inefficient.
Chiming in here that this is UNACCEPTABLE. We also have used the down or up arrow key for invoices since we started using QBO 8 years ago. Suddenly it's gone?? It takes us SO MUCH MORE time to input invoices and this is UNACCEPTABLE. Please explain your process to fix this and when that will happen.
I am experiencing the same issue. This missing feature is slowing down my data entry by 50%.
July 22 I called back to check on this exact issue (ticket was submitted all the way back in May)
They claimed it was "working as intended...."
QBO keeps getting worse and worse.
Still no fix.
They claim the product is "working as intended...."
QBO keeps getting worse and worse
Still no fix. I called customer support and they claim everything is "working as intended...."
QBO keeps getting worse and worse.
I understand that this might be new to your end, @DC_C.
I regret hearing about your frustrating experience. Please know that this is not the level of service we aim to provide. The feature of using the arrow key to move to the next line when creating an invoice is no longer available. With the new update, you can now use the Tab key on your keyboard to move to the next line.
We truly value customer feedback and use it to improve our services. I will help convey your insights to our software engineers so they can review your suggestion for possible inclusion in future product updates. Here's how to send Feedback:

Kindly notify me if you have other concerns with handling your invoice. I'm always ready to lend a hand and provide you with the necessary assistance you may require, @DC_C. Keep Safe!
What is really frustrating is that the down/up arrows work to move from line to line in a PO. Why only the change on the invoices? If it can be done on purchase orders, why can't you make invoices function the same! Quickbooks makes bad update after bad update.
No this issue is not new to me.
As I said, I submitted a ticket back in May and was promised a fix.
Using "tab" doesn't take you to the next line, it only takes you to the next field. You have to press tab ~6-8 times to reach the next line.
This issue is new to invoices. You can use the arrow keys to scroll between lines on literally every other QBO function (including the old invoice format). The arrow keys work on Sales Reciepts, estimates, bills, expenses, purchase orders...EVERY page except invoices.
Why would QBO intentionally TAKE AWAY useful functionality????
This makes no sense.
OMG - they fixed it! Arrow down works in invoicing!
@DC_C If the QBO and QB Desktop situation over the past several years is any indication, this is just one step closer to them revealing their newest, most streamlined (and expensive) software offering. It'll do everything QBO did, only worse, but it will be very streamlined.
So streamlined, in fact, you might not realize you're even using software in the first place.
I was rejoicing happy tears when this was finally fixed. The enter button to scroll down would be even easier, but I will take the arrow.
Now it seems however, that when you use the arrow to scroll down, the entire cell is no longer highlighted for you to type over and instead the curser is at the end of the cell. So if someone is in the cell, you are now forced to delete it before you can retype in the cell? Why do we keep moving backwards with efficiency? This is almost worse than not being able to use the arrow. So many extra key clicks. Can we fix this?
I completely understand that adapting to changes in the platform can take some getting used to, nazzouz.
I can see how the option to highlight an entire cell can enhance your workflow. However, this feature has been updated so that the cursor appears at the end of the cell. Your experience is important to us, and feedback like yours helps us improve. I encourage you to share your thoughts with our development team for consideration in future updates.
Here's how you can do this:
In the meantime, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + A to highlight the cell's contents and make the necessary edits.
