This morning there was an update waiting from Intuit. It said something about Windows Defender not allowing it. Like a fool, I clicked allow. Once again, third time, my QB is running as slow as molasses. Our IT spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to fix this on a previous occasion. Its not the company file for the computer. Anyone have any insight?
I’m here to share some insights on why your QuickBooks is running slow, @Wicked Witch at the Front Desk.
There are some possible reasons why you’re experiencing performance issues with QuickBooks Desktop. One of which is when trying to run it on a computer that doesn’t meet the minimum system requirements. Make sure your system fulfills all the requirements for the best experience.
You'll also want to lower the Windows security so that you can update properly. Once finished, return the security to its original configuration. You can ask assistance from your IT expert about this.

If you are running QBD Pro/Premier, consider to split your data by removing older transactions. Another option, you may purchase a 3rd party file tuning service to lower the size.
Our experience is that Pro and Premier data files start to take a long time to run reports at the 150-200 MB size. In addition, Pro and Premier become more susceptible to data corruption and other funky issues if they get to be too large.
Our books are only KB size. This is some other kind of problem caused by an update. Thanks. Our ITs have fixed the problem. Updated turned off.
