We are planning on moving to Quickbooks Accountants 2021 and we currently have Desktop 2021 will we be able to upgrade all of our files to that version?
Welcome to the Community, @adamolson. I'm here to help you upgrade to QuickBooks Desktop Accountant 2021.
Since you already have the Desktop 2021, you're already well on your way to upgrading. All you'll need to do is install the 2021 program on your computer with the new license and product details, then open your company file from 2018 in the 2021 program. The new version of Desktop will prompt you to upgrade the file and then do it for you once you click OK.
I have a few articles for you about Desktop 2021, installing, upgrading your company file, and support information if you need a hand with the process. Check them out below:
I'm always around here to help you some more in case you'll need further assistance. Have a great holiday.
Does this still apply when going from 2018 Desktop Pro to Accountants 2021?
I can open all the files with 2018 and make a backup and then upgrade the live files?
Does this apply when moving from Desktop 2018 Pro to Accountants 2021 Desktop?
I open up all the files in 2018 and back them up and then install 2021 Accountants and it will automatically upgrade?
Also I selected Accountants 2021 and the download files is named QuickBooksPremier2021 I want to make sure that I am installing the correct version.
Thanks for getting back to us here in the Community, @adamolson.
You're able to open and upgrade your files from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Pro 2018 to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Accountants 2021. As mentioned above, after installing and activating the Accountants 2021 version on your computer, you'll have to pull up your backup and upgrade the file through it. This way, you can smoothly manage your company using the new version.
You can refer to this article for the step-by-step guide: Upgrade your company files after switching to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop. After that, you can update QuickBooks to make sure you have the latest software release.
On the other hand, you're able to know you've installed the correct version by pressing the F2 key while you're inside the program. From there, you're able to view the product name and all other important account information. I'd recommend checking out this article for the complete details: Find QuickBooks Desktop product and license info.
Additionally, I'd recommend visiting this website: User Guides. You can get do-it-yourself articles, training, and pro advice that will help you get familiar with QBDT and manage your business accordingly.
I'll be right here to help if you need further assistance in upgrading your QBDT files and program. Take care always.
