What happened to option to export invoice list in Quickbooks self employed on-line? where did this icon go?

Before recent modification to QB Selfemployed online, I was able to export a list of my invoices to excel format that included date; client; amount and invoice number.  Where is that option now in the latest version?  If it was not included, it needs to be restored.

Hi there, christineforan.

I can see that a similar question about exporting invoices was also asked earlier in a separate thread.

Let me share this link so you can check out the response that's posted by one of my colleagues: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/reports-and-accounting/how-do-i-export-my-invoice-....

What happened to option to export invoice list in Quickbooks self employed on-line? where did this icon go?

As I indicated in the other thread, I'm not asking for a new feature to be added.  Exporting invoice lists has been a function of QB Self Employed online and was only recently unavailable.  I suspect it is part of the many problems QB has had rolling out the updated application.  Please inform you technical support personnel that this function is not working in the updated application.

This is extremely unhelpful. It feels like they have bots running these forums and it's incredibly disrespectful to the clientbase. Not to mention that they are removing basic functions like exporting our invoice data! THIS IS OUR DATA and you're gatekeeping it so we have to pay for a more expensive service! We're not running a lemonade stand here, we need to analyze our data and run our businesses until we make the decision that we're ready to "upgrade" to a more expensive, feature-filled package. This feels like theft. It's unethical in the very least. HELPFUL ADVICE: Go to customer support and request they send you your exported invoice data. They will do it. Begin managing your invoice data yourself or find another company that will respect your business.

This update roll-out has been terrible.  I can't see some invoices on the desktop app, which is the one I use to manage my business.  In the phone app I can see them.  As soon as I modify anything using the phone, like marking an invoiced as "paid", it disappears from my list of invoices on the desktop.

Additionally, It's not just exporting the list of invoices that went away.  Now when I try exporting an invoice to PDF (which has always been my workflow) instead of getting a filename like "QBSE_ClientName_Invoice_invoicenumber.pdf"    I get    "pdf.pdf".  How useless is that?  Who validated this was an acceptable change?  Did a paying client approve this?  It's in my opinion, INSANE.

Turning the functionality back to what it was previous to the update would be such a simple change too !

I contacted support three weeks ago when I noticed the issues. So far no changes or improvements to these two issues.  I am about to drop QuickBooks for another service provider.

(if I am doing something wrong and there is functionality out there in the new update...)

Can someone show me how to export my invoices so they generate with the above-described and previous naming convention?

Also, can someone explain to me why some of my invoices are not visible in the invoice screen page on my desktop.  Why do they disappear from this list once I modify them on my phone?

Please help.

Thanks

I completely understand your frustration with the recent update roll-out and the issues you're experiencing with your invoices, @ricardo22. Having invoices missing in the QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) desktop while being visible on the phone app is undoubtedly inconvenient. Gladly, I can share some troubleshooting steps to isolate this.

Normally, changes made in the QuickBooks app will also appear on the web version. In your case, it's possible that you're experiencing some browser-related issues. To rectify this, I suggest opening your QBSE account using an incognito window. This enhances privacy and prevents your browsing history, cookies, and other data from being stored on your device which causes the software to act strangely.

After signing in using an incognito, check your invoices. If you're able to see them, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. You can also use other supported browsers to learn what browsers need for the best experience when using QuickBooks.

Regarding the PDF file name concern, please know that when you export an invoice as a PDF in QuickBooks, the system generates the file name "pdf" by default. The feature that automates the file name to what it used to be before is no longer possible. You can, however, rename it before saving it on your computer or once it has been saved. See the screenshot below for your guide.

Moreover, the option to export the invoice list in QBSE is currently unavailable. For now, the best option we have is to export them one by one.

I can see the importance of having this option and a feature that automatically renames the file when exporting an invoice. I know how essential these options are as they would be helpful for you and your business. As a valued QuickBooks customer, we'd love to have your input about the enhancements you'd want to see in QuickBooks by sending feedback to our product developers. They can review your suggestions and consider adding them in future releases.

Here's how:

  1. In Self-Employed, click the Assistant icon.
  2. In the chat box, type "send feedback."
  3. Select Add a feature.
  4. Then, we can type something like "Export invoice list."
  5. Send the input, then hit Yes.

For future reference, you can check out this article that can aid you in organizing your transactions: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

@Nicole_N and @ricardo22

I think the best option is to look for other invoicing applications. I've made numerous calls to QB for support and the support team seems to be unaware of the changes that have been made.  It's very apparent that QB is not concerned with client retention for this application.  So, I've been doing research on some other options.  Nerd Wallet just posted an article this month comparing several applications.

Other apps may not fix all the QB problems, but it can be much worse than what we have now.
