Where can I download the QBO Windows app?

I just got a new laptop and tried to download the QBO Windows app and they've replaced the download link with a notice saying that they will support the app until April 20th, and you can even use the app thereafter (without support or updates), but there is no where to download the app right now. If they say they are supporting it until April 20th, where can I download it. I actually loved having the app in a separate place; even though I know it's just a browser emulator, it was nice to have a QBO logo on my menu bar and use it separate from the browser.

UPDATE: I tried to get support to find out where they've hidden the app until April 20th, and had a chat conversation. Add this to all the other threads about terrible customer service from Intuit. I don't know for sure, but it didn't appear that English was his first language, but regardless he didn't know what was going on. He kept sending me to the link above and saying that we can no longer download it and they aren't supporting it any longer. I pushed back each time with actual text from the link above that says you can download the app until April 20th and use it thereafter, but he kept arguing with me and saying that it is not supported anymore. When I pushed back saying it's not April 20th yet, and I don't care if the page says there wasn't a lot of use, I always used it and want to download it for my new laptop, he basically kept repeating the same things until he hung up on me. 😡😑

Where can I download the QBO Windows app?

Hi GDVO,

I also love to use the QBO Desktop app. However, there are only a few who use it, so we decided to stop it.

As early as now, we no longer provide a download link since the app will be discontinued anyway. However, it can still be used by those with an existing installation.

You can sign in to QBO using any of these browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox. Note: To preview and print forms on Mac OS, you'll also need the Firefox PDF plugin.
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari 11

Hope this clears up everything.

If you have other questions, feel free to go back to this thread.

Where can I download the QBO Windows app?

Thanks. That's also not helpful though, and it’s inconsistent with what is posted on your website. Whoever wrote that content needs to update it to match the story you are all telling, or all of you need to change your story.

You can mark this as resolved though, thankfully the internet always remembers... here's a link to download the latest (and final) version for anyone who wants to use it beyond April 20th:

Similarly, poor customer service is also always remembered, and unfortunately I have so many stories of poor customer service with Intuit and QuickBooks, e.g.;

  • QBD to QBO upgrade process;
  • no QBO to TurboTax Business;
  • no core TTB software updates beyond the bare minimum tax year changes;
  • no QBSE to QBO transfer as your business grows;
  • poor pricing models to expand users for your business;
  • dumbing down QBO to the point that accountants are frustrated by using it;
  • no recurring JEs in your base package (really? this one is particularly baffling);
  • canceling support for this app (which is the most minor of all the above).

Rather than delight your customers and encourage us to do business with you, they make us constantly look for reasons to limit our spend with you (because the value isn't there), and our eyes are always on the lookout for other solutions to move to. We for one are looking at a MS Dynamics deployment... we're almost big enough to make it worth the investment, since the only "return" we get from "investing" in Intuit is continued frustration and letdowns. 🤷‍♂️ 🤬
