Will Quickbooks 2021 Desktop Pro run on Windows 11 ?

@IFA62034 wrote:

Why doesn't Quickbooks just update their product so that it works with Windows 11?

I'm expecting June is the earliest time we'll have an announcement for IE 11 or Win 11. I'm not sure they'll spend the resources to support QBD 2019 running on Win 11.

Will Quickbooks 2021 Desktop Pro run on Windows 11 ?

So I'm frustrated,

Really guys we are paying QuickBooks good money.  I've had access to windows 11 3 months before it's release.

I'm currently trying to figure out what to do with a client of mine. There accounting company move all their data files over to QuickBooks 2022.  My clients computers are all windows 11. I can't install QuickBooks 2022 on 11.  The accounting company will not support 2021 and we don't have a copy of the 2021 file before the conversion. I can't downgrade the computers to windows 10. The computers shipped with 11 no 10 license. I've called Microsoft and the vendor of the computers. We are told we can't downgrade.

I know exactly why your QuickBooks 2022 software won't install on windows 11. It's because during the install there is a runtime library that is outdated and a newer version is already bundled with windows 11.  You just have to skip that runtime. But there is no option with your installer.

So how to I fix this please

@Dodge9494

You can't downgrade but you should be able to clean install Windows 10 with the Windows 11 OEM license key that the PC comes with - so should not have to buy another license or disc as you can make your own Windows 10 Install USB/CD using Windows 10 MCT or other sources.

Will Quickbooks 2021 Desktop Pro run on Windows 11 ?

I agree. It is downright depressing how little support you get from Intuit after shelling out major dollars for a program that has flaws in Windows 10 and can't be run on a brand new computer that has Windows 11.

It took three times today before Quickbooks would even start. I send in a report and include my email to receive a reply...nothing. This is a product they have recently raised prices on to $400 per year and won't support it.

Will Quickbooks 2021 Desktop Pro run on Windows 11 ?

We just upgraded computers to Win11 vs. Win10. On two different machines, from two different manufacturers, each purchased together a week ago--QB Pro Plus 2022 takes an inordinate amount of time to load/open the program similarly on each machine. Then when it loads and the data file visible it appears that QB isn't finished loading since the File option (as an example) will not respond to the mouse for another 30-60 seconds.

I read your reply to the question of Win11 compatibility in this thread. However, clicking the link to requirements to run QB the newest OS listed is Win10 NOT Win11.

Absent an answer here I plan on uninstalling QB on one machine and reinstalling using compatibility mode?

Will Quickbooks 2021 Desktop Pro run on Windows 11 ?

Thanks for replying so quickly.

First, I must clarify a few things:

1. I have already installed QB on the new) latest version of QB we did so from the same page your link indicated. However, Whereas our QB is entitled Win11 machines.

2. The new Win11 machines are vastly more powerful and far exceed our existing machines

3. It is my wife who uses QB. I'm her husband (Mark) who is tasked to figure this thing out. So, please pardon my apparent ignorance of QB.

4. When we installed the (what I presumed) the latest version we did so from the same web page that your link references. However, whereas our program is Pro Plus 2022, your web page only offered a QB Pro 2022 without the plus.

5. As far as our download being the most current, the only place I've found anything that might resemble versioning was on the Update page. In the upper right corner of that screen is:v.32.0.4005.0. If this is not the version number then please direct me accordingly.

6. As mentioned earlier, every time we open QB we are presented with an 'updating' message we've not seen previously. And again, this is every time you open the program. I'm attaching a screenshot.

So now I'm going to hand this problem back to you for further instructions.

Mark

Will Quickbooks 2021 Desktop Pro run on Windows 11 ?

Has anyone in this thread who is having or had a problem running QB CURRENTLY under Win11 in 2022 tried uninstalling QB and then installing QB using Windows compatibility option?

I have not as of yet but I did successfully install our ancient 2003 copy of Quicken on our three new Windows 11 machines.

I have two questions that I'd like an answer to before I deal with support.

Have you experienced any other instances this year similar to mine?

Have you heard of folks reinstalling QB using MS' *compatibility mode?

Will Quickbooks 2021 Desktop Pro run on Windows 11 ?

This thread has been going on for a year and, in checking the Quickbooks site this morning, Intuit still does not support the 2021 Desktop version on Win 11.  I am starting to believe they never will because they want to force you to update to the new version which is a subscription model costing $360/year for the cheapest plan. I have been using QB since the 80's when I had a home business and, now that I am retired, still use it for my home bookkeeping since all my accounting history is there. But hell if I am going to pay $360/year for home bookkeeping. So I upgraded to the final version of Desktop (2021) for $350 as I assumed Intuit would support this version for at least another 5 years. I guess I assumed wrong.

This isn't the experience we want you to have, dgkasper.

I understand the importance of transferring your QuickBooks company file to your new Windows 11 PC. For the time being, only versions of QuickBooks Desktop 2022 and higher can be used with machines running Windows 11.

Consider upgrading your QuickBooks Desktop 2021 to a much newer version if you wish to restore your data on that computer. Although it will cost you a lot of money, doing this will allow you to move your QuickBooks files.

Here's how:

  1. Click Help, and then Upgrade QuickBooks.
  2. Select the version you want to upgrade to, then choose Upgrade Now.
  3. You can keep a copy of your current version of QuickBooks. Select Keep old version on my computer, then select Let’s go.

As an alternative, you can also use the Windows 11 OEM license key that came with the computer to cleanly install Windows 10 as Fiat Lux - ASIA mentioned above. To be sure you don't miss anything, I advise getting help from an IT professional when installing it.

I'm adding this resource for a complete guide in updating your company file if you switch to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop for future reference: Move your company files after you switch to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.

You're welcome to post again if you have further questions about managing your company file. We're always here to help you.

Will Quickbooks 2021 Desktop Pro run on Windows 11 ?

Hi there, KIM.

I appreciate you for joining this thread concerning your software characters in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Since the application is only available in US and Canada versions, the language itself is defaulted to its respective region of availability.

In your case, you’ll want to change your computer desktop’s language setting to Chinese so that it will also apply to your QBDT company file. Although, this may not translate all the names or characters into Chinese. You can check out your computer’s manual to change your settings.

On the other hand, you can consider importing your customer names via an IIF file. We can translate it from English to Chinese and enter it into a file to import into QBDT. Before that, back up your company file before the process to restore its previous state of file in case you run into problems.

  1. Log in to your company file as an admin.

Note: If you’re in Multi-user mode, go to the File menu, then select Switch to Single-user Mode.

  1. Navigate to the File menu, and select Utilities.
  2. Choose Import, then select Import IIF.
  3. Select the IIF file you want to import, then tap Open.
  4. Select OK to confirm the import.

You can also check out this article to guide you with importing and editing IIF files in the application: Export, import, and edit IIF files.

Another way around this is to utilize a third-party application that allows you to translate or import your customer’s name into your preferred language. Here’s the link where you can check all available applications: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop.

I’m all ears if you have more questions about managing your customer lists. The Community always has your back.

Hi, thanks for your reply. my problem is QB can display Chinese, but when i add Chinese character in the customer name, and input invoice, QB pop up a message said that customer is not on the list, but it did on the list. i tried so many times, i just can use a customer name without Chinese character. but before i moved to window 11, i was using window 10 and QB is working well on the Chinese character. i don't have any problem since i moved to window 11 .
