Refunds and Price Rules?

Hello,

I've had this issue pop up a few times now. I'm wondering if there is anyway to make the Refunds and Credits items follow the price rules of the items?

I have a number of items that change price on quantity. For example a single pound of a product is $3.50 per pound, if that quantity is 50 pounds the price changes to $2.75 per pound. When staff writes up returns the item defaults to the base number, $3.50. On a few occasions I have returned more money than what was owed. Seems odd that refunds can't follow the same rules.

Thanks,
Randi

Refunds and Price Rules?

I genuinely appreciate the detailed information you provided regarding your concern about processing refunds in accordance with the price rules of items in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Your thorough explanation has been extremely helpful in understanding the specific issues you're facing with how the system defaults to the base price during the refund process, Randi.

When processing refunds for items with price rules in QBDT, the system uses the base price. At this time, there is no automatic way to follow the item's price rules when processing refunds to customers. However, you can override the amount in the Credit Memo window as a workaround. Here's how:

  1. Go to Customers.
  2. Choose Create Credit Memos/ Refunds.

  3. Complete the other fields. In the RATE column, enter the desired amount to override the base price.
  4. Hit Save & Close.

In the meantime, you can also share your suggestion regarding the use of price rules when issuing refunds to customers. Please refer to the steps below:

  1. Hover to the Help menu.
  2. Select the Send Feedback Online option.
  3. Tap the Product Suggestion, and a pop-up window will appear.
