Save To PDF cutting off a wide margin on right side of documents, I've tried everything

I've tried everything today, have read all of the support documents, tried all of the suggestions, I'm hoping someone here has the answer. I tried to be as detailed as possible.

My problem:

When I'm inside a purchase order or invoice, and click either 'Print' > 'Save as PDF' OR 'Save As' > 'Save as PDF', I then select the file name, and save the PDF. But then when it's opened, the right side and bottom of the PDF are cut off. All I see on the right and bottom of the document is just white. I attached an example of what I'm seeing here. This ONLY happens on this one workstation. This error does not occur on any other workstations accessing this company file.

When I open the windows event viewer, I see two quickbooks errors that occur every time I click 'Save to PDF', which I believe are related to my problem. Text of the errors below.

Error 1: An unexpected error has occured in "Intuit QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions: Manufacturing and Wholesale 20.0": WPR: AddPrinter failed - failed to add XPS printer driver lasterror=1802OS =10.0 Printdriver name :Microsoft XPS Document Writer

Error 2: An unexpected error has occured in "Intuit QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions: Manufacturing and Wholesale 20.0": WPR: calling ABORT_CLOSE

My System:

QuickBooks Enterprise with a company file hosted on a server, opened in multi-user mode, with multiple workstations logged in at any given time.

What I've Tried:

  • Ran the 'QuickBooks Tool Hub' went to 'Program Problems' and ran both 'Quickbooks Program Diagnostics Tool' AND 'Quickbooks Print & PDF Repair Tool.
  • Removed & Reinstalled the Microsoft XPS Print Driver.
  • Tested printing to XPS printer from notepad, and from quickbooks with 'Print' > 'Microsoft XPS Printer', both worked fine with no errors.
  • Uninstalled & Reinstalled Quickbooks on the workstation.
  • Tested printing a purchase order from a brand new company file, same error occurred.
  • In CMD I ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth, and sfc/scannow.
  • Reset temp folder permissions.
  • Confirmed user permissions for XPS Document Printer

Any ideas?

Thank you for the detailed information and I appreciate the steps you've performed when trying to resolve the problem you're having, @FLFan112.

Those steps should fix the issue. Since that doesn't make a difference, I encourage reaching out to our QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Support Team. They'll be able to check this further securely and investigate the possible causes of the problem when saving a PDF.

Sounds like you are printing Landscape instead of Portrait.

Is your Orientation set to Landscape? Try setting the orientation to Portrait in the Print Reports window.

This is too late for your problem but since we experienced the exact same issue, I thought I'd post the solution. Like you, we tried everything, including Intuit's QuickBooks Tool Hub. It did not solve the problem.

The problem is that the print system sees the paper size (I believe Windows calls it forms) as a smaller size and chops off the content. Editing the template and changing the print options fixes the problem. Changing the setting back will keep the correct size.

1. Go to an Invoice > Formatting Tab > select Manage Templates

2. Select a common template > OK

3. In the Basic Customization window > Additional Customization > Print Tab

4. For us, the "Use Invoice printer settings from Printer Setup" was selected. Select the other option: "Use specified printer settings below for this invoice". Notice that the paper size is "8 1/2 x 11 in".

5. Click OK to everything to get back to QuickBooks.

6. Verify printing works as expected.

7. Follow steps 1-5 to change the setting back to "Use Invoice printer settings from Printer Setup".

8. Verify printing works as expected.

Cheers!
