I'm getting a security warning popup that occurs dozens of times per day.

The popup states - The current webpage is trying to open a site in your trusted sites list. Do you want to allow this?

Security warning popup

Hi there,

This security warning pops up when QBDT or any webpage you're on is trying to interact with another website that you've specifically added to your Trusted Sites zone in your internet settings. Rest assured, this pop ups can be handled well and I'm here to help you how.

The picture you sent has the same URL but different protocol for web communication, which is why you're seeing the security pop up. I recommend consulting with an IT expert to handle this, as you'll be needing to modify your Trusted Sites list in your default browser. They'll also modify the security settings which should be done cautiously.

Furthermore, we also recommend updating your QBDT to the latest update to ensure everything works perfectly.

Let me know if you need help with updating your QBDT. We're always ready to help.

Mark,

Thank you for your help. I was able to adjust the third-party cookies allowing intuit.com. I believe making the change in IE/Edge solved the problem. The real concern is why this changed from when the software was installed. Why does Intuit use HTTP rather than HTTPS? Nobody has been able to answer that, even the Intuit people.

I added Intuit to my trusted sites and I'm still getting these pop ups. I have no IT department, it's only me, so a better explanation would be helpful to rectify this issue.

Hi Brenda,

I followed this:

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/product-preferences/adding-intuit-tru...

And also added intuit to the trusted sites in Internet explorer.

To add a website to the trusted sites list in Internet Explorer, open Internet Options, navigate to the Security tab, select "Trusted Sites", click "Sites", enter the URL, and click "Add".

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Open Internet Options:
Click the Tools icon (gear icon) in Internet Explorer and Select "Internet Options".

2. Navigate to the Security Tab:
  • In the Internet Options window, click the "Security" tab.

3. Select Trusted Sites:
    • Under "Select a zone to view or change security settings," click "Trusted sites".
  • Click "Sites".

4. Add the Website:
  • In the "Add this website to the zone" box, type the URL of the website you want to add.
  • (Optional) Clear the "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone" checkbox if you need to add sites that don't use HTTPS.
  • Click "Add".
  • Click "Close" to close the Trusted sites window.
  • Click "OK" to close the Internet Options window.

Security warning popup

I think I found the easiest solution. At least, it seems be working for my particular case, where I'm getting "Do you want this app to make changes to your device?" error.

Quit QB. Then go to the app shortcut and right-click. Select "Run as administrator".

So far, this has been working for me. Earlier, I had over 10 pop-up warnings from Windows Security. Now there are none (fingers crossed).
