When trying to connect to American Express, I now get an interstitial box that says "Opening an external browser window" except it never opens anything and the software freezes - I've tried rebooting, repairing, etc. It downloads fine on this same account from Chase, but Amex seems to be an issue all of a sudden, and I've never had a problem before. Any ideas?
Hi eljst,
Thank you for bringing up the issue with your online banking connection to your AMEX account.
I appreciate your efforts to reboot and repair your QuickBooks. At this stage, I suggest reaching out to our QB for Mac team, as they have additional tools to further investigate the issue with your online banking connection.
Please don't hesitate to go back to this thread if you have other questions in mind. Take care and have a good one!
You can use csv2qbo converter tool for the time being. It's $60 one time license.

Have you tried restarting your computer? I know, I know, it's super obvious, but just in case you haven't.
If restarting doesn't do the trick, try downloading and installing Chrome then setting it as your default browser. There are some banking signup web sites that only work in Chrome, so it's a good thing to try.
Same here. It all started for me after a message showed up that says something like, "your connection to Amex got an upgrade. Reconnect your accounts." I got the same message for my Citi cards. They work fine after reconnecting. Amex (2 cards) aren't. Assuming this is an issue between QB Online and Amex connections, as it only started after one of the parties to the connection made changes.
