The QB app is causing my iPhone to overheat and drain the battery. Is this a known problem I can fix on my end?

My old iPhone 13 would often get hot and have the battery drained due to mileage tracking. I just got a brand new iPhone 14 and the same thing is happening. Is this an issue with my settings or is it something with the QB app itself?

The QB app is causing my iPhone to overheat and drain the battery. Is this a known problem I can fix on my end?

Several tips can help you save your device's battery life and overheating when using the QuickBooks (QB) app's mileage tracking, jbrisini. I'm here to provide them.

It's essential to note that QuickBooks needs to run in the background. Doing so enables the platform to accurately track mileage for real-time trip logging of your driving activities.

Below are the most common tricks to preserve your battery life when monitoring your mileage in the app. They're possible by utilizing your device's settings.

Option 1: Minimize the app while running in the background to limit its screen time. It helps save battery consumption. Just tap your device's Home icon to achieve this.

Option 2: Enable battery optimization:

  1. Go to your device's Settings.
  2. Tap Battery.
  3. Turn on Low Power Mode or Battery Optimization.

Option 3: Turn off the device's sounds and push notification:

  1. Go to your device's Settings.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Customize push notices for the QB app.

Option 4: Reduce the brightness or enable your iOS device's dark mode theme. To do so, go to SettingsDisplay & Brightness, then reduce the brightness or turn on dark mode from there.

Additionally, you may access these resources once you encounter problems with your mileage tracking in the QuickBooks app:

If you have more questions about mileage tracking and battery optimizations, don't hesitate to reply to this thread. Have a good one.

The QB app is causing my iPhone to overheat and drain the battery. Is this a known problem I can fix on my end?

I appreciate the suggestions, but nothing has worked. For two months now, my phone drains about 1 percent per mile driven. During that time, my phone also overheats and the battery analysis says the Quickbooks app is the cause of 35-40% of my battery usage during that time. Is there a solution to this? It is very frustrating and I am actively looking for alternatives to the Quickbooks Solopreneur subscription if I can't find a solution.

I am still waiting to hear back about this issue. Today the issue popped back up again. Is it simply an issue where the app needs to be updated and it takes Quickbooks a while to figure out the fix?

I am still waiting to hear about a solution to this app problem. Is it simply that the QB team has to come up with an app update every few months to resolve the issue?

Hello @Leemo.

Please know that this isn't the experience we'd want you to have while using our products, as it does not reflect the standard we aim to uphold. I am here to help you resolve your QuickBooks Online mobile application concern.

To begin, please ensure you have a stable internet connection and that your app is updated to the most recent version to synchronize the latest data. If your app is not up-to-date, kindly proceed with the update.

However, if the issue persists, I advise clearing the application data of your QuickBooks Online (QBO) app. This action will restore the app to its default settings, remove any issues from old or corrupt data, and enable your QBO app to operate seamlessly.

For iOS:

  1. Go to Settings, then select General.
  2. Choose iPhone Storage, then tap the QuickBooks Online app.
  3. Then select Offload App.

You can free up storage space without deleting your app's documents and data.

For Android:

  1. Proceed to the Home menu or tap the three dots in the right upper right corner.
  2. Tap on Settings.
  3. Select Refresh Data.
  4. Click on Yes.

If the problem remains, I suggest uninstalling and then reinstalling the app. Additionally, using other supported browsers can be a good alternative too.

Moreover, discover solutions for resolving issues with tracking work trips on your Apple or Android device using the QuickBooks Online mobile app: Fix mileage tracking issues in the QuickBooks Online mobile app.

Furthermore, we offer an excellent resource to enhance your bookkeeping process. Consider exploring our QuickBooks Live Expert Assisted service. This supplementary service is designed to help you keep your business well-organized and running smoothly.

Please know that the Community forum is always available to assist you with any concerns or follow-up questions you may have regarding managing your QuickBooks Online App.

The QB app is causing my iPhone to overheat and drain the battery. Is this a known problem I can fix on my end?

Emailed back and forth with someone at Quickbooks who was very helpful. He thought he fixed the issue, but it still persists. Unfortunately my last two emails haven’t been returned, so I might just cancel my subscription because be overheating issue makes it unusable. I really like using Quickbooks, so I’m holding out hope that it can be fixed in the next month. However, I’m also realistic and know hope is not a strategy.
