Tracking what inventory my customers have

We are shopping for a new account software. We are coming from E-Automate.

 

Right now we have an ability to see a list of all the equipment we sold ( including serial numbers ) and can sort it by customer so can see who we sold it to. Is there anyway to do this in quickbooks online or desktop?

I can help you choose which QuickBooks product you need that can track serial numbers, jonnymicros.

 

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise lets you set up serial numbers to track certain transactions. You can use this if you:

 

  • Buy and sell inventory items that have unique serial numbers
  • Keep track of which customers bought specific serial numbers
  • Want to know which serial numbers are in inventory
  • Need a report that shows the invoices related to a specific serial number (this helps you track down a serial number's history for a warranty).

To add serial numbers, you need to turn on Advanced Inventory. Learn more about this through this link: Use Serial or Lot Numbers.

 

I'm also adding this link if you want use the product: QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

 

On the other hand, we use SKU when creating a product/service item in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Or you can use any third-party application that supports a serial number and integrate it to QBO.

thanks for the reply. so i would need enterprise desktop as well as pay for the advanced inventory just to be able to attach a serial number to an item?
