I am currently using Quickbooks online and am trying to switch over to Quickbooks Desktop. When I export my data from the online version it gives it to me in a zipped folder. I extracted the files and they are excel files. When I attempt to "Open or Restore an Existing Company" on the desktop version the files aren't showing up because its requesting QBW or QBA files. I have tried so many ways and am at a complete frustrated loss.

Once you export your files from your QBO account, the data will automatically be saved as an Excel file. You can't use this data in restoring a backup in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
However, I can provide you another workaround to transfer and convert your QBO data to QBDT. Here's how:
