US-COBRA Subsidy Credit under Other Tax Item

I am on Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise 2019,Enhanced Payroll.   Quickbooks Support online docs claim that there is a new "Other tax item" for "US-COBRA Subsidy Credit" related to ARPA tax changes.  This item does not exist in the latest tax update for QB Enterprise Desktop 2019. (22112).  I have never seen this item listed in the release notes with a tax update.

When I called QB Customer Support, the Support person verified I had the latest tax update, and then said "Oh, they must have only put it in the QB 2021 version tax update".   Her fix was that I need to upgrade to Desktop 2021.

Looking at release notes for payroll tax updates for Desktop 2021, there is also no listing of a "US-COBRA Subsidy Credit".  Tax update notes for Desktop 2021 are the same as the tax update notes for Desktop 2019.

Can anyone confirm either:

1. They are on Desktop 2021 and are using the "US-COBRA Subsidy Credit" ?

or 2. They are on Desktop 2021 and the other tax item "US-COBRA Subsidy Credit"  does not exist.?

Here is link to the page that CLAIMS such an item exists.

US-COBRA Subsidy Credit under Other Tax Item

Hi there, Laurel_OR.

The US-COBRA Subsidy Credit is not only limited to QuickBooks 2021. It is also available in lower versions of QuickBooks Desktop similar to what you have. In fact, I tested it on my QuickBooks 2019 version and I was able to set it up.

I also checked the notes for Payroll Update 22110 and it says "his tax table includes new tax tracking types used to provide employees with paid sick or paid expanded family and medical leave. Due to changes in taxability as defined in the American Rescue plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) these new tax tracking types replace similar tax tracking types used previously as defined in Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) of 2020."

Here's a link to it: Payroll Update 22110.

Let's try to reset the maintenance release for your QuickBooks 2019. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Proceed to the Update Now tab.
  3. Check the box for Reset Update, then click Get Updates.

Once the update is complete, restart your computer and log back into QuickBooks. Then, download the latest update one more time and check if you can already see US-COBRA Subsidy Credit.

US-COBRA Subsidy Credit under Other Tax Item

Jen,  Are you seeing "US-COBRA subsidy credit" in your tax type list?  Because the 22110 is referencing the Sick Pay and Family Leave items, per below.  I do have those items after installing 22110.  I do not have the COBRA item.

Attached is screen shot of my tax table version.  Customer support walked me through downloading and updating it yesterday.  Then there is screenshot of my tax dropdown, which does NOT have the item.

If the problem is improper installation of tax table, please give me steps to remove and reinstall, because I've been through complete download twice.

You have "Accountant version".  Could that make a difference?
