To start the reconciliation process over, just proceed as normal with reconciliation process at the appropriate month?
Good afternoon, @frustrated35.
Thanks for joining in on this thread.
Once you unreconcile and change the information needed and then reconcile the transactions back where it needs to then you should be good to go.
Here's a guide that may come in handy in the future: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks.
I'm only a comment away if you need me. Have a great day!
So, two and half years ago, we were told:
"I know that having to go through manually editing each transaction can be a real pain when you have more important things to be doing. Our developers are implementing new features based on the functionality that works best for most users. I'm taking note of this request and making it my top priority that it reaches our developers."
TOP PRIORITY!
Really? So 2-1/2 years later, and what have you all done about it? NOTHING. Just keep repeating the same non-answer over and over, despite the obvious and clear feedback from your users who are PISSED that you have taken away this feature that we used to have with regular Quickbooks.
What a sack of BS.
I keep seeing the same, tired, BS excuse of a reply on this thread over and over. "I understand that it's important for you to be able to undo reconciliation, but we're not going to let you do it."
I am unable to use the words here that I would really like to use to express my loathing for Quickbooks and its "support". What a sick joke.
If my corporate franchisor did not require me to use Quickbooks, I would immediately find something else.
Here we are more than a year later after this comment, and guess what? STILL nothing from Quickbooks, other than platitudinous, BS non-answers. Thanks for nothing.

Absolutely 100% correct!
Oh I know, I reconciled my 12-31-2021 statement on 1-5-2022 but forgot to change the date to 12-31 and now my accounts will not match when I have to report taxes at the end of the year. ONLY BECAUSE THERE IS NO UNDO RECONCILIATION BUTTON.
If you are using Quickbooks Online, the undo reconciliation option is reserved for your accountant (I don't know why). However the good news is you can be your own accountant.
Click on the gear then "Manage Users" then click on the "Accounting Firms" tab. Invite yourself to be your own accountant. (There is no extra fee for this). You'll get an activation link that will allow you to sign up as an accountant. Then you can log into and it will then take you to the Quickbooks accountant page. From there you'll see your main account, and will have the ability to undo the reconciliation.
Tip: when you are inviting yourself to be your own accountant, use a separate email address and create a separate account for the accountant user. The Accountant view and regular view of QBO is largely the same and 95% of the functions can be performed in either version, but there are a few subtle differences that do not work in the accountant view. (like the ability to print your billing statement for your QBO subscription). If you use the same email then you'll end up always logging into the accountant view. If you keep the accounts separate, then you'll be able to log into either QBO version of the site when needed. Learned this the hard way.
Good Luck!
Thank you, yes I got it now
Here we are 3 years later and still can't undo reconciliation.
Why on earth would QBO want to cut off the hands of small business owners who do their own accounting?
I'm about ready to leave Intuit for good, they obviously don't care about our opinions and would rather strongarm us into having to hire an accountant... ridiculous!
I am an accountant user type and still I can not undo, ts ridiculous how can I undo one by one for 10000 plus transactions? guys do something asap
I am a Quickbooks Online Plus user and I am seeking assistance in finding a way to undo a reconciliation. Tried the suggestions of adding myself as an accountant (do not have an "Accounting Firms" tab option in this version) however the "Undo" option is still not available. Is it that I have to pay for an accountant subscription in order to access this feature?
Your confusion ends here, @centraltnt.
Yes. The special reconciliation tool that can undo the entire reconciliation is only available in the QuickBooks Online (QBO) Accountant version, and it's a different subscription on your current plan (QBO Plus).
If you're interested in signing up for QBO Accountant to have the option to undo an entire reconciliation, you can go to this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/accountants/products-solutions/accounting/online/.
Moreover, you still have the option to undo your reconciliation manually using your QBO Plus version. For more guidance, feel free to check out this article: Undo or remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.
Once you're ready to redo the reconciliation, you can read this article for the detailed steps and information: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
Feel free to click the Reply button below if you need further assistance reconciling accounts in QBO. I'm still open to your replies, @centraltnt.
As a small business owner, I agree with the above comments. This is not acceptable for the product and should have been foreseen by developers. I need to undo a reconciliation report which is showing a transaction I inadvertently manually entered into the wrong account register before I reconciled; it appears I cannot do so.
As I now sit on hold with QBO while the support person is doing some checking, I did some additional drilling down into this thread and came to the conclusion switching to accountant view does not help. Unless I contact my accountant to make the change, I cannot. Is that correct?
Hello, @grdagonese.
Yes, the option to undo reconciliation is only available in QuickBooks Online Accountant version. That being said, only your accountant can undo entire reconciliation. What you can do is manually undo or remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.
Here's how:

Thank you @GebelAlainaM
I found a workaround by sending myself an invite as another user under the Accountant option. After accepting, I was able to undo the reconciliation. Unfortunately, I should have sent it to another email address because, now my account is in the accountant interface and I cannot seem to get out. I am online with another agent now.
"Top Priority" ? This problem happened in 2019, it's 2022 and I'm here I wondering how to solve the same issue.
Hello there, @Maikelis.
I'd also feel ignored if left with no resolution. However, the feature is only available if you're using the QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) version.
You can only unreconcile a single transaction in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I know how important it is to have an undo option for your entire reconciliation for a specific period. This will surely speed up your work to finish your task in no time. With that said, here are a couple of workarounds you can perform to unreconcile your transactions.
First off, you can manually undo the reconciliation by editing them. Another option is to ask your accountant to undo the reconciliation on your account. Additionally, you can also sign up for QBOA to use this feature.
Also, QBO automatically generates a report so you can check your previous reconciliation data. This includes information such as the beginning and ending balances as well as those transactions left uncleared.
You're always welcome to post again here and ask any other questions about managing your reconciliation. I'm always ready to lend you a hand.
Oh my stars! I make ONE mistake by clicking the FINISH button when it has the wrong Final Balance and now you're telling me I have to pay who knows how much to undo that! I've only had Quickbooks for 6 weeks and EVERY DAY I'm wondering why I left the Desktop version to come this 'Improved' version. If it can be a feature in the Desktop version, why, oh why, can't it be a feature in this version. <scurries off to search for alternatives to Quickbook that are more user friendly to small businesses...>
Thanks for joining this conversation, @TauntonSidingCo.
Allow me to chime in and share information about undoing reconciliation in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
No, there's no need for you to pay someone to undo your reconciliation. Though the option to automatically undo the entire reconciliation is only available in the Accountant version of QBO, you can manually edit each transaction to undo it.
Below are the steps on how to do it:

I has been 3 years since you wrote the above. Your developers sure do work at a snail's pace. Ridiculous!
The Undo option is available to accountants only under the QBOA edition. Until Intuit adds the option to the regular QBO edition, you have two options as a solution to this dilemma:
1. hire a real accountant to click the Undo button for you, or
2. "pretend" to start an accounting firm as a side business, sign up for QBOA trial under a different email address, and invite your brand new side business as an accountant to your primary business.
Log in at QBOA, and voila, you get the Undo option for your company's Reconciliation.
Sorry Intuit for all these phantom accounting firms, but you are asking for it. :-)

I think you have revealed true purpose. We just saw Musk withdraw from his Twitter deal because of all the phony bot users. Looks like QB is gets to report to shareholders an every expanding new user base by refusing to fix a known problem.

WHY?
Why is the option to undo reconciliation only available in QuickBooks Online Accountant version?
WHY?
When I had regular Quickbooks on my desktop computer, several years ago, I had the ability to undo a reconciliation any time I wanted. I could select any time period, and undo a whole month or a whole year, or whatever.
Then I was forced by Intuit to switch to QBO and pay a monthly subscription fee, and I LOST the ability to undo a reconciliation.
As should be entirely clear from all these questions and comments, your users are extremely unhappy with what is such an obvious and transparent cash grab by Intuit. You took away a feature that we always had and now just glibly say "oh, you have to have your accountant do that for you" or "you can upgrade your account if you want to be able to do that".
WHY?
Why was that feature taken away, when it previously was a standard feature, available to us small business owners?
Oh, I know why: because Quickbooks sucks.
I sent myself an accountant invite but when I open the client, the numbers and bank links arent' there. Did that happen to you?
You have clicked a link to a site outside of the QuickBooks or ProFile Communities. By clicking "Continue", you will leave the community and be taken to that site instead.
