Accepting credit cards

Using QB Desktop 2020, I created a QB Payments account to accept credit card payments from clients . My clients typically pay in-person, in my office, and I see the fees are lower if I swipe the card as opposed to manually keying it in.

I also see there is a GoPayment mobile app. I don't have a need for that because clients pay in my office. I would like to be able to swipe the card at my desk and have it processed through QB. I assume this means I need some sort of card reader, which I guess would need to read chips now too? I am only going to use it maybe 5-10 times a month.

Can anyone suggest a card reader model for a small office with low volume? Are these purchased through QB or through a third party? Thanks !

Hello @Spurlin9,

You can order a card reader from our Merchant Services so you can start accepting payments in your office. You can read this article to learn more: Order a card reader for QuickBooks GoPayment.
