Are the card readers free?

@smithpumpfixing Good question.  New merchants qualify for a free card reader (Chip & Magstripe Card Reader model QB21 Bluetooth) upon account activation.  The offer is extended through an email containing a link.

 

If you are an existing payments customer and need to order a new reader, they are available for a cost, you can click on the following link for price and product details:  Mobile payments

 

You can also order a new card reader through your merchant account.

 

1. Log into your Merchant Center portal.

2. From the home page click on Order Card Reader located under the Account Self-Service section.

3. Select the card reader you would like to order and place the order.

 

Depending on the shipping mode selected, it can take anywhere from 5-10 business days.

Are the card readers free?

I use the Desktop version and signed up for QB Payments today. There is no mention in the four emails about how to get the free card reader and the support only refers to QB online. How do I get a free card reader?

Hi @tpssrod,

 

Welcome to payments!  Let me see if I can help. The free card reader would be for the GoPayment app.  You'll have to open your GoPayment app and select the version you're using. 

 

For Blue GoPay users, follow the steps below:

  1. At the top left, tap the Menu (3 horizontal dashes) icon.
  2. Click Card Reader.
  3. Select Place Your Order.
  4. Select the number of readers needed and the Check Out.
  5. Complete the fields on the card reader order form.
  6. Tap Review Order.
  7. Once confirmed that all of the information is correct, select Place Order.

If you're using the Green GoPay, here's how:

  1. At the bottom right, click More.
  2. Select Hardware.
  3. Choose the option to Order card reader.
  4. Select the card reader you want to order: the $20 reader is the one that would be discounted to free.

Before placing the order, make sure it is showing no charge.  If it is showing a charge, I would reach out to the Support Team to see why it's not allowing you to get the reader at no charge: Payments support

 

After placing the order, please check your email to get the order tracking number. You'll have to wait for 5-7 business days to receive it.
