Failing to deduct withholding tax from invoices

Hi there, Towie. I'm here to help you get this resolved.

First, can you share the user role you're granted so we can further investigate this?

The error message you encountered indicates that you don't have the necessary permission to edit invoices. To rectify this, I recommend asking your QuickBooks Administrator to review your permissions and provide you access to modify the transaction without restrictions.

In QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, the role that grants access to update invoices is the Accountants Receivable. To give this permission, please share these steps with them:

  1. Open the program and go to the Company tab.
  2. Hover over to Users and choose Set Up Users and Roles.

  3. Next, click the Role List menu.
  4. From there, locate and select the Accountants Receivable.
  5. Choose View Permissions, then Display.

  6. Once done, go back to the Role List tab. Highlight it and hit Edit.
  7. You'll be routed to the Edit Role window.
  8. Highlight each category under Area and Activities and click Full or Partial under the Area Access Level section.
  9. When done, hit OK

Once the necessary permissions are granted, you can start editing invoices.

For your reference about the process, please visit this article: Create and Manage Roles. It also includes steps to create a custom role.

It's also easy to create restricted user roles. It will help you control what they can and can't do within your books. To get started, follow the detailed steps in this article: Create Data Level Permissions.

I have your back if you need further assistance with managing user permissions in QBDT. Feel free to comment below, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
