I'm still using Point of Sale desktop because I'm not a fan of Shopify. That said I updated QB Enterprise to 2024 and now my POS 19 can no longer send financial data over. I remember there used to be a workaround when they would lose their integration but cannot remember how. Does anyone know the fix? It was done before through QB support but they're no longer offering support for it.
Hi there, @exportmanagementsysteminc.
Let me help and provide insight into why you can no longer send financial data in Point of Sale (POS).
To begin with, QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale discontinued their service as of October 3, 2023. On October 3, 2023, QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale and the following connected services will be discontinued:
After October 3, 2023, you can still use QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0. However, you won't receive critical security patches and updates. To know more about the discontinuation, refer to this article: QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale discontinuation.
Additionally, you may want to consider using a third-party app aside from Shopify.

You can export your sales data from QBD POS to Excel and prepare it as the Sales Receipt. Then you can use an importer tool to proceed. It's a one time license.

Did you ever find a solution? Intuit support told me that when I upgrade to ES 24.0 my POS communication will cease to function. A third party QBs advisor told me that it should continue to work. It sounds like you are 100% sure that the financial exchange is kyboshed? You are positive that you did everything correctly and left no stone unturned? Thanks!
Just wondering if you ever found a resolution to this issue? I need to upgrade my enterprise however do not want to lose the integration with POS.
Thanks for joining the thread, Tanderson. I'm here to share information about updating QuickBooks Desktop without affecting your POS integration.
Know that updating QuickBooks Desktop should not affect your POS integration. POS integration is designed to operate independently of specific QuickBooks versions, ensuring that transactions, inventory management, and other essential functions continue seamlessly. Updating your software to the latest version will improve your experience and promptly resolve common issues. Here's how:

Great information, JamesAnrewM but that goes directly against everything I have been told by Intuit support. Thanks.
Can I save my current 2021 ES and keep it alive, then update to 2024 ES? This way, if they have somehow killed the link to POS on 2024, I can at least go back to where I started. What makes you so sure POS will work with 2024 ES? Have you tried it? Thanks.
Yes, you still have the option to keep your 2021 QuickBooks Enterprise after upgrading to QBES 2024, @HuffDaddy.
You can directly upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise (QBES) to the latest release version which is 2024 while still being able to see the lower version (2021).
Here's how:
Please be informed that the POS version 19.0 has already been discontinued and we are no longer releasing any updates for it. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that it will work seamlessly if you integrate it into your system. The support for this version was only extended until 2023, and using it beyond that may result in unexpected behaviors.
Moreover, I've added this article for a more detailed guide on how you can update to the latest release: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.

We followed the steps, and when we reopened QB 24.0, we did not receive a message asking to install the update. So, we opened QB POS 19.0, and ran the update QB desktop, and received the same error.

I appreciate you for following the steps provided by my colleague, @MFFOC. Let me share information on upgrading your QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise (QBDT).
Regarding your concern about the QBDT 24.0, we can't receive a message to install the update when reopening if you already updated to the latest version.
On the other hand, we want to let you know that the QBDT Point of Sale version 19.0 has been discontinued, and we may not provide any further updates. As a result, we cannot guarantee that it will work seamlessly if you integrate it into your system. The support for this version was extended until October 3, 2023, and using it beyond that may cause unexpected issues.

What is the verdict? Did it work with Ent. 2024?
My hunch is that it did work. Can anyone verify that please?
Thanks.
I appreciate you coming into this thread, jiminok. I can share information when integrating QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sales into Desktop Enterprise.
As shared on this thread, QBDT POS was discontinued on October 03, 2023. All associated services connected to this program are now discontinued. However, QuickBooks Enterprise (QBES) remains fully functional for managing financial transactions. While you can continue utilizing the POS system for store management, you will no longer receive critical security patches and updates. I recommend checking out this guide for additional inputs: QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale discontinuation.
Alternatively, you can explore using third-party applications to implement modern retail solutions with QuickBooks Desktop Financial Software. This will allow you to integrate and link transactions into the program that best suits your business.
Furthermore, you can refer to this resource to learn how to track customer transactions in QuickBooks Desktop: Get started with customer transaction workflows in QuickBooks Desktop.
I'll always be around on this thread if there's anything else you need further assistance with when managing transactions in your file. Keep safe and have a great day ahead.
Thanks. Please don't take this in the wrong way, but I'd like to know from someone who's tried it.
It's clear that it's been discontinued since Oct. But there are users who are still in the process of moving on. So, the question is: Will Ent. 2024 make any further use impossible.
Thank you for coming back to the Community, jiminok. I'm here to help and provide clarity to any concerns you may have regarding QuickBooks.
You can continue utilizing the POS system to handle your stores, but you won't receive the most recent important security patches and updates. QuickBooks Enterprise (QBES) 2024 can still be used for handling business transactions and accounting tasks, even after the POS has been discontinued. For in-depth information about the discontinuation policy, I recommend browsing through the article shared by @FateCandylaneT.
In case you're considering switching to Shopify, I've got some resources that discuss in detail about the migration process:

It works. I am up and running. So far so good. Don't want to make a big deal about it because we don't want them kyboshing anything. POS 19 & ES 24 is a yes.
Will POS 12 or 19 communicate / share with Enterprise Solutions 24 ? Can I still use the "update quickbooks " feature from my desktop to transmit my sales and inventory to Enterprise Solutions 24. This is CRUCIAL for me. I've done this for 18 years.
Yes. With the caveat that the product is no longer actively supported.
How did you get the POS to work flow into Desktop 2024?
I can provide insights on integrating QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale (POS) with QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.
As mentioned in this thread, QuickBooks Desktop POS was officially discontinued on October 3, 2023. This means all related services associated with this software are no longer available.
However, QuickBooks Enterprise (QBES) continues to function effectively for managing financial transactions. While you can still use the POS system for store management, it is important to note that you will not receive essential security updates and patches moving forward.
For more detailed information on this discontinuation, I recommend reviewing the guide on QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale discontinuation.
As a workaround, you can use third-party applications that provide modern retail solutions alongside QuickBooks Desktop Financial Software. These alternatives can help you integrate and manage transactions in a way that aligns with your business needs.
Additionally, if you're looking to enhance your customer transaction tracking within QuickBooks Desktop, I suggest referring to the resource on customer transaction workflows in QuickBooks Desktop: Get started with customer transaction workflows in QuickBooks Desktop.

This may not work for everyone but this is what I did and it worked. I have POS 19.0 Pro Level and QB 24 Enterprise. I had this issue with QB 23 once in awhile but after the 24 update POS 19 and QB 24 would not sync.
You will need the Quickbooks tool hub program installed. Open QB tool hub and select network issue. Click the green icon that says "Quickbooks Database Server Manager" . You may have to browse and add the location of your company file folder, Mine is C:\Intuit\Quickbooks\Company files. once you add the correct folder then hit scan and all the files that should be shared will come up and POS 19 will be able to sync with QB Enterprise 24.
