I appreciate you letting us know about the payment verification issue. I'm here to assist you with this concern, @advancedwindowti.
To verify a payment made through PayPal and the receipt generated by QuickBooks, please follow these instructions:
First, ensure that the QuickBooks payments feature is enabled. If it is, you can go to the specific window for the concerned transactions to see if they are recorded there.
At the same time, it is recommended that you check your bank statements to confirm if the payment has been deposited into your account. Look for transactions that match the amount and date specified. This will help us ensure that the payment has been successfully processed and credited to your account.
If you are unable to find the payment in your bank statements or if the QuickBooks payments feature is not enabled, I suggest you reach out to our payment support team for further assistance. They will be able to guide you through the necessary steps to resolve this issue.

Thank you for posting your question here about receiving customer payments in QuickBooks Online, samcurran59. I'm happy to jump in and provide some guidance.
I'd also like to ask if you mean the payment was processed using a PayPal account belonging to your client's friend
If so, you'll receive a confirmation email from PayPal showing the payment was sent. The invoice will automatically get marked as Paid just like with other payment methods in QuickBooks Online.
Even though the payment originated from a third party's PayPal account, it will still show as settled in QuickBooks once the funds hit your PayPal account.
In addition, the funds from a PayPal payment made to you by your client's friend will be deposited into your bank account following your normal deposit schedule, along with your other QuickBooks transactions like credit card and bank transfer payments.
You don't have to do anything special when a payment comes via a third party's PayPal account. Those payments will be included in your regular QuickBooks deposits into your bank.
Lastly, let me share a couple of helpful articles that can offer further guidance on receiving online payments through QuickBooks:
These articles have some great tips and details both for connecting PayPal/Venmo accounts, as well as what to expect regarding deposits for online payments.
Let me know if you have any other questions, samcurran59. I want to make sure you feel comfortable with how these third-party PayPal payments will work in terms of payment confirmation and depositing of funds into your connected bank account. Feel free to follow up if you need anything else explained.
