I understand the importance of receiving your payment promptly, mjoyce7020. Let me make it up to you and ensure you can receive your funds.

The system holds deposits temporarily to ensure their safety during processing. Also, there are factors that we can check to identify the witheld funds:

  • When your payment processing exceeds the established maximum dollar amount expected on your account.
  • When a transaction is processed after several authorization attempts and failures.
  • When certain transactions require verification of your business type to ensure it is compliant with the Intuit Acceptable Use Policy.
  • When our systems identify processing patterns that pose a risk to any of the parties involved: You, your customer, or Intuit.

To review the payment status. Follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to the Merchant Service Center.
  2. Click Activities & Reports and select Deposits.
  3. Select Show Advanced Options
  4. From the status dropdown choose All/Fund/Pending/Withheld
  5. Then click Search.

Typically, we complete the review within five business days for new accounts and set up your merchant account within that period, which could be why you are unable to receive an email for the payment.

If it's taking longer than that, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Payments team for further assistance.

Please let me know how else I can help you with your payments and other transactions. I'm always here to help.

I was able to access it.  It says payment with held.  What does that mean?

We appreciate what you've done so far, @mjoyce7020. The Withheld status in the Method column from your merchant account means the payment is on hold and is under review.

Please check your email for steps to address any issues, which include providing additional information or documents. Reviews are completed within two business days. For more details, read this article: Learn about funds on hold in QuickBooks Payments.

If you haven't received any emails, I suggest contacting our Merchant Support Team. They can securely check your account and provide additional troubleshooting steps to get this fix as soon as possible.

Here's a screenshot of how you can get in touch via merchant account from the Support panel:

@GebelAlainaM  RE: The Withheld status in the Method column from your merchant account means the payment is on hold and is under review.

You seem to think this is normal for a merchant service. It's not. There is no reason in known reality for Intuit to hold payments and 'review' them. That's complete nonsense.

@JoesemM  RE: The system holds deposits temporarily to ensure their safety during processing.

That is nonsense.  A credit card payment is approved at the point of sale, and once approved it will never be un-approved. There is no "safety" that can be added to it after that point.  Intuit is just holding their customer's money for no reason at all - and it seems flat-out lying about why they're doing it.

Let me direct you to the appropriate support to help you with your withheld payments, klutmans.

The system temporarily holds deposits to ensure their safety during processing. Also, there are several factors that we can check to identify the cause of the withheld funds:

  • When your payment processing exceeds the established maximum dollar amount expected on your account.
  • When a transaction is processed after several authorization attempts and failures.
  • When certain transactions require verification of your business type to ensure it is compliant with the Intuit Acceptable Use Policy.
  • When our systems identify processing patterns that pose a risk to any of the parties involved: You, your customer, or Intuit.

Since you haven't received any email and have no information in the resolution center, I recommend contacting our Live Support team. They can securely pull up your account and investigate the status of the deposit.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. In the upper right corner, click the Help icon.
  2. Navigate to the Search tab and enter your concern.
  3. Select Contact Us, then choose a way to connect with us.

Also, please be aware of their support hours for convenience when connecting with the right expert.

For more information, explore this material: Learn about funds on hold.

Additionally, for easy access and manage your financial information, you can view and download your processing statements in the Merchant Service Center.

RE: The system temporarily holds deposits to ensure their safety during processing.

I've never heard of an unsafe deposit. What can be unsafe about a deposit?

My merchant service never does this. Maybe there's something Intuit knows about deposits that they don't know?
