Can I transfer/move multiple transactions from one Payment Account to another Payment account in a batch? (eg credit card 1 to credit card 2) Reclassify doesn't work.

I can edit and change the Payment Account one by one.  Is there a way to do this in one batch?

Can I transfer/move multiple transactions from one Payment Account to another Payment account in a batch? (eg credit card 1 to credit card 2) Reclassify doesn't work.

Let me share some information about changing multiple transactions by batch from one payment account to another in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

If you are using QuickBooks Online (QBO) Accountant and Advanced version, we can use the reclassify tool to save time and make the same change to multiple transactions at once. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon on the top menu. Then, choose Reclassify Transactions.
  2. From the Account types dropdown menu, select Profit and Loss to see income and expense accounts. Or select Balance Sheet to see your asset, liability, and equity accounts.
  3. From the Account list, select the account with the transactions you want to change.
  4. Use these types, class, customer/vendor, and modify filters to filter the list. You can also select Accrual to see all paid and unpaid transactions or Cash to see only paid transactions.
  5. Click Find transactions.
  6. Choose the checkbox for each transaction you want to change.
  7. Tap Reclassify.
  8. Select a new account to move the transactions to from the Change account to dropdown, a new class from Change class to dropdown, or a new location from the Change location to dropdown.
  9. When you’re ready, press Apply.

To learn more about this one, check out this article: Reclassify or move multiple transactions in QuickBooks Online Accountant and Advanced. If you are not using this version, you may upgrade your subscription.

If upgrading is not the best option for your business, you'll want to check for a third-party application that can help you with this one. Check out this link for a list of QuickBooks-compatible apps: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/. We can also do it in QBO by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Apps on the left side menu.
  2. Search for the app in the Find apps to streamline your work field.
  3. Look for an app that supports the Batch feature.

Any questions about integrating the app into your Online account should be directed to the app's third-party provider. Also, to assist you in managing your account and growing your business with QBO, I recommend visiting one of our support websites: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about account management, banking, and expenses, to name a few.

I appreciate you for taking all the steps to move the paid invoice, @ejlaccounting. Let me help you create a clearing account in QuickBooks Online.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Click on the Gear icon.
  3. Navigate to Chart of Accounts.
  4. On the Chart of Accounts window, hit the New tab.
  5. Choose a Bank for the Account Type. You may choose any detail type you want for your clearing account.
  6. Type in the Name for the clearing account.
  7. Make sure you do not type in any amount on the balance before clicking Save and Close.

Then if you prefer to transfer the amount after making a clearing account. You can just create a Journal Entry and before doing so, I highly suggest consulting your accountant for further assistance.

Moreover, you can visit this article for future reference about reconciling an account in QuickBooks Online: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to post here in the Community, if there’s anything else you need help with managing your accounts in QuickBooks Online. I’d be more than happy to help you.

I have the same issue, I downloaded 500 transactions from Expensify to QB, and the transactions were not downloaded on the correct CC account in the chart! This means; I need to change the payment account for each downloaded transaction manually, I open the transaction from the register and change the payment account from the wrong CC to the correct one! It's a mistake in the mapping between Expensify and QB and I didn't notice that before I pushed the report to QB. Can someone advise if I can change the payment account for more than one transaction at the same time?

Hi there, Kbadran. I'd like to provide some information about changing the payment account in your Chart of accounts.

QuickBooks currently doesn't have a built-in feature to change the payment account for multiple transactions at once through the user interface. However, you can only change the information one at a time.

In addition, you can run a report in QBO to gain insights into your company's financial health, including revenue, expenses, and net income.
