Disable Credit Card Payments?

Hi there, unclemurray,

Thanks for checking this with us. I can share some insights about accepting online payments QuickBooks Online.

If you're subscribed to our QuickBooks Payments service, this enables you to process both ACH and credit card payments. Anyhow, you have the ability to turn off credit card processing for a particular invoice before sending it to your customers. You can do that by unchecking the credit card option on the Online payments section of the sales transaction. Please see screenshot below:

However, if you want to permanently turn off the credit card option and retain ACH processing, I'd recommend getting in touch with our QuickBooks Payments Support. They have the resources to check you account and help you with this preference.

You can get out updated phone number through this link: Contact QuickBooks Payments

That's it, unclemurray. Please let me know if you need further assistance. I'm here to help you whenever you needed me. Have a great day!

Disable Credit Card Payments?

I might just add that I had a problem with one particular customer where, although I unchecked the box that would allow him to pay by credit card, each month it was still allowing it.  This was baffling customer service as well.  He kept looking at all my screens and everything seemed right.

Solved it by accident - If you memorize an invoice to use later while the box is checked, it will allow the customer to pay by credit card even if you later uncheck the box.  You have to delete, redo, and re-memorize a new invoice after turning the credit card option off.

Disable Credit Card Payments?

Hi there,

The easiest way to disable credit card payments is to:

go to Go to Gear icon > Custom Form Styles > Payments > Deselect Credit Cards or ACH

Hope this helps :)

Disable Credit Card Payments?

Hi unclemurry,

I would like to also add that when you go into your customer's profile you can select the payment option type (i.e. Check, CC, or Debit Card) and so if you only want them to pay by Check (ACH) then whenever you create an Invoice for that customer the ACH option will only be checked on the invoice. This doesn't make the CC option disappear but it does keep you from having to uncheck the CC box each time you need to make an invoice for that customer. So  while it may cost you some time on the front end for each customer, it will save time in the future and provide the flexibility for you to select which customers have the option to pay with ACH, CC or both.

Hope this helps.

Disable Credit Card Payments?

Unfortunately that does not work for me.  When you hit done to save the change the credit card toggle gets recheck every time.  Please let me know if there's a trick to keep it unchecked.  Thanks!

Disable Credit Card Payments?

Hello @briana82,

Let's perform some browser troubleshooting steps so you can save your invoice without checking the credit card payments tickbox.

To start with, let's open and access your account in a new incognito or private window of your browser. This way, you can check if it's not your browser causing the issue.

From there, you can create a new invoice transaction and save it without selecting the credit card payments tickbox.

Once you can successfully save it, you can clear your browser's cache to optimize its performance. And then improve your browsing experience when working with QuickBooks.

However, if you're unable to save it without selecting the credit card payments tickbox, let's switch to a new browser application, access your account and create an invoice from there.

Lastly, here's an article you can read to learn more about browser troubleshooting steps: Troubleshooting Browser Problems.

As always, you can visit our Help Articles page for QuickBooks Online if in case you need to learn some "How do I" steps.

It'll be always my pleasure to help if you have any other questions. I'll be keeping an eye for your response.
