How do I make the "tags" feature go away?

I do not want to use the feature and it would be great if I did not have to tab through it.

How do I make the "tags" feature go away?

I can help you with that, Paula J.

Tag is a new plugin in QuickBooks Online that allows you to label your expense and income transactions. This way, you'll be able to track how specific areas of your business are doing. If you don't want to use this feature, you can turn it off so it won't show on the transaction page. Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under the Your Company section, choose QuickBooks Labs.
  3. Find the Tags feature and click the Switch/Toggle icon to turn it off.
  4. Select Yes to leave feedback or No to skip the message.

I'm also adding these articles to learn more about this feature:

Feel free to drop by if you have any other concerns or questions. Have a wonderful holiday.

How do I make the "tags" feature go away?

@Paula J,  Just FYI, the instructions provided by @KlentB  will show you how to turn it off, BUT, as MANY of us have noticed, and fought with is that it STAYS ON.

So, @Paula J , don't be surprised if you go through those steps and still have the Tags feature showing up.

How do I make the "tags" feature go away?

Being able to turn off the Tags feature is already reported, Just_me.

Our Product Team is investigating what's causing this feature to stay on even if it's already turned off from the QuickBooks labs section.

We'll update this post once the issue is fixed. You can also contact our QuickBooks Online Team so they can add your account to the investigation.

Here's how to get in touch with them:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?) at the top right.
  3. Enter your concern, then select Let's talk.
  4. Select Contact Us to connect with a live support agent.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.

As tax season is coming, I'm adding this link to help you get ready: Year-end checklist for QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Stay in touch with me if you need anything else aside from the Tag feature. I'm always glad to help you.

How do I make the "tags" feature go away?

@MaryLandT   Your comment AND tagging me was COMPLETELY unnecessary.  I already know what the deal is.  I was merely letting someone else, who obviously didn't know, know.

Think before you tag.

In Response to Just_Me's reply, I would take that one step further and say, "Think before you decide to add Tags as a feature".  How about taking those software engineers and move them to fixing existing features? That would be neat.

How do I make the "tags" feature go away?

I use Quickbooks online with Chrome. "Tags" is NOT listed on the Quickbook labs page. I really want to get rid of this annoying feature. I have been told by your help person via chat that this is impossible. I was told to use the gear icon to report the issue to engineering, but that feature does not seem to work for me...no pop-up for me to enter a description of the problem.

Is this just something I'll get to live with as long as I continue to use QB?

How do I make the "tags" feature go away?

It started out that it was "A known bug" that they are ALL aware of.  The "Bots" here seem to enjoy the lie of "We will let our developers know" and that "They are working to fix the problem".

At this point, just get used to the fact that your voice, along with the rest of us suffering through this bs, mean nothing to Intuit/ QB, or their developers.

We are pretty much stuck with it, as is.

(Cue the "Robotic" type and false sympathetic answers)

How do I make the "tags" feature go away?

Well the "engineers" are obviously not fixing it as this has suddenly turned ON for me today, 9th Feb 2021!!  The feature is listed under LABS but is Off, and has never been turned on.  What on earth is going on??!!

How do I make the "tags" feature go away?

I recognized the importance of running your business flawlessly, Drice

As of now, the option to disable the tag feature is unattainable. As an alternative, you can look for a third-party app that lets you create and customize your invoice without the tag field.

You can go to the Apps menu in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account or visit our QuickBooks App Store for reference.

Additionally, you can also send your feedback to our Product Developer team. This way, they can review it and help you with your QuickBooks experience. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then select Next to submit feedback.

You can also see this link for more details: How do I submit feedback?

I'm also adding this article that you can use for reference. This walks you through the steps in documenting your customer payments: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

I'm all ears if you have other queries about QBO. Stay safe and have a good one.

When I click on QuickBooks Labs, this option is not available.

Is there another way?

How do I make the "tags" feature go away?

Hi there, @Wastemaster.

Helping you to ensure you always have the necessary details when entering transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is my priority.

To assist you with this, you can also turn it off under the Accounts and Settings page. This will remove the Tags field when creating sales or expense transactions. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
  2. Go to the Sales menu.
  3. Select the Sales form content section and turn off Tags.
  4. Once done, click Save.
  5. Next, navigate to the Expenses tab.
  6. From the Bills and expenses field, turn off Show Tags field on expense and purchase forms.
  7. Then, click Save.

Once finished, you no longer see the Tags field when entering sales and expense transactions.

Also, feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team to guide you through doing any of your QBO tasks. Live support operating hours are from Monday through Friday 6 AM to 6 PM and on Saturday through Sunday 6 AM to 3 PM, PST.

Don't hesitate to get back here if you need further assistance removing the tags feature in QBO. I'm just a post away to help. Have a good one.
