invoice and payment

I started recording and tracking a construction job in Projects AFTER invoicing and receiving the 50% down.  I was able to detach and reattach the payment and get that transaction into the project, however, now I don't see the remaining 50% balance owning.

invoice and payment

Hello, kmarie.

In QuickBooks Online, you'll have to turn on the Progress invoicing feature so you can split an estimate into as many invoices. You can view the remaining balance by opening the estimate. I'll show you how to do it.

  1. Go to the Project menu.
  2. Choose the specific project you've created.
  3. Click the Transactions tab.
  4. Open the estimate transaction.
  5. From there, you'll see the remaining balance.

I'll share this article for more insight about the progress invoicing feature in QuickBooks Online: Set up and send progress invoices in QuickBooks Online.

I've also included the following materials below to learn more about the reports available in your QuickBooks Online subscription and how you can customize them:

invoice and payment

Thanks, somehow the estimate is not linked to the invoice and payment.  This may be because I needed to add this payment into the project after I created the project.  I found the directions which said to unlink the payment from the invoice then link it again.  I did not want to do this alone so I had a meeting with our quick books bookkeeper to do it.  Our screens did not match and she didn't know how to help me do it in my account so she did it.

Maybe somehow that also unlinked the invoice and payment from the estimate.  I can find the remaining balance but it takes quite a few clicks to do so.
