Purchase Orders

I would like to create a purchase order without actually creating a purchase order...

We create estimates and then want to use that to populate a purchase order. After trial and error, it was decided not to use the PO feature within QB (long story). Is there any way to create something similar from inside QB to give to the subcontractors? I looked at Sales Orders, but we'd have to change too much to make it useful.

I can export to Excel (of course) but since I'm already pushing QB to its limits, why not see if I can push it further...

Purchase Orders

Hi there, tnelson75. Thanks for bringing this question to the Community.

With QuickBooks Desktop's integration features, users have the ability to find and connect available third party applications for completing tasks that might not be possible within the program itself. Connecting with these services may help accomplish what you're looking for with estimates and POs.

I took a look by accessing our App Store and searching "Purchase Order". There were 21 results found which could be worth reviewing. Hopefully one of these can assist you in achieving what you're seeking to do. Detailed information about each app can be found on their webpages in our store.

Here's a few resources that you might find useful:

If you have any other questions, i'm just a post away. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Thank you! I didn't know there was an app store... unfortunately, the ones I looked at were all for QBO. We're using Premier - Contractor.

Thanks for getting back to us, @tnelson75.

I recommend you go to the QuickBooks Compatibility section of the article given by my peer above. Then, select the Premier option to look for third-party apps. Here's how:

  1. Open this article: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Hover down to QuickBooks Compatibility section, and then click the Premier option.
  3. Go to the Sort By drop-down to narrow down your search. It will give you options such as RelevancePopularityNewestAlphabetical, and Rating. Then, choose your desired apps.

Purchase Orders

Keeping this issue afloat.

We tried Zoho Books and were amazed that it has all the features we wish was on Quickbooks. Maybe they are reading all the UNFULFILLED AND LONG OVERDUE FEATURE REQUESTS in this Quickbooks Community and then apply it to their software.

The only reason we haven't transferred yet is because we are already using Quickbooks for several years now and we don't want to mess up our existing data (by human error) while transferring to another program.

When you request a feature in Quickbooks, they will acknowledge it and will just give us (WE, THE MONTHLY PAYING CUSTOMERS) a WORK AROUND and a PROMISE. I really hope we can already transfer to another program, hopefully Zoho Books, soon.
