My customer doesn't use email so how do I text the invoice to them using QB Online?

To send an invoice via text, you can share the link of the specific invoice with your customer by copying and pasting it. However, to copy the link, an email must be entered in the customer email field first. You have two options - either enter your customer's email address or use your email as an alternative. If you haven't entered an email in the Customer email field, you'll receive a prompt. Therefore, it's important to make sure to enter an email address in this field before copying the link.

 

Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to the Sales menu located at the left navigation panel and choose Customers. 
  2. Search the name of your customer and select it.  
  3. Find the invoice you'd want to send to your customer.
  4. Under the Action column, click Edit
  5. Ensure to enter an email in the Customer email field.
  6. Click the dropdown arrow next to Save and Close.
  7. Choose the Save and Share link or type Ctrl + Alt + L
  8.  You'll receive a prompt to copy the link, click the Copy link option.
  9. Send the copied link to your customer through text.

Thank you for your help! I was able to get one of them sent but I wasn't able to send the other. The invoice I am unable to send doesn't have the Share Via.... choice. Both invoices are set up the same. I have an attachment to show what I'm talking about. Thanks!

it's been 4 years and they're still not able to resolve this issue or implement this basic af feature.


C'mon yall.  How are you going to offer a QBO mobile app without having an integrated feature to allow service providers the ability to send estimates and invoices via text messages?!

 

I'm confident yall will finally get around to it one year so thanks in advance for the help.

Hi titan, were you able to get that link from the mobile app or did you have to sign online to get that link and then send that link to your phone so you can then text it to the customer?

Hi there, Danorion. I can show you the steps in sending an invoice link in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

The ability to send an invoice link is only available in QBO. Sending an invoice link through QBO is still unavailable. I recommend sending feedback to our product developers to inform them about your request to change the phone number format. This way, our Product Engineers can consider adding this in future updates.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Sign in to your QBO account.
  2. Click the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Press Next.
     

Once done, our designated team will review it. You can track your future requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

 

You can consider browsing our QuickBooks App Store to find an application that has the ability to send estimates and invoice via text message. 

 

In the meantime, you can consider accessing your QBO through the desktop to get the invoice link and send it via text.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Log into QuickBooks Online. Then select Sales.
  2. Click invoices. Then, look for the invoice you want to share a link.
  3. Hit the dropdown button under the Action column.
  4. Select the Share invoice link.
  5. There will be a pop-up window. Click the Copy link button, then click Done.
  6. Send the copied link to your customer through text.

@titanuplawncaret @danorion you can use a 3rd party app (Fazeshift) to send QB invoices via text messages to the customer. works well for service providers.
