The tab function does not work when entering bills or checks.

When I enter an expense, vendor bill or check, the tab function stops working when I get to the Category field.  Does anybody else have this problem?

The tab function does not work when entering bills or checks.

Tons of us are having the same issue.  We have been told they are looking in to it, but it has been over a month that it started for most of us. So far no solutions.

If you don't mind the frustration, you can get in touch with "support" and let have them put you on the list of affected users.

Otherwise, you just have to use the mouse to click through, until they actually step up and fix it.

Hello, cyberdog3.

I understand the need to have the tab function working to speed up recording transactions. As I've checked, Just_me is correct. We have an ongoing investigation about the tab functionality. Our engineering team is investigating the tab key issues you are experiencing in QuickBooks Online. We hope to have new information for you soon.

I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Online Support. They have the tools to pull up your account and add you to the list of affected users.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Click the Help (?).
  3. Select Talk to a human.
  4. Enter a brief description of your concern.
  5. Choose a way to connect either Chat with us or Have us call you.

In the meantime, you can use your mouse to click and navigate the field.

For future reference, I've included this article about tracking bills and recording payments: Enter bills and record bill payments in QuickBooks Online.

You're always welcome to post again if you need further assistance in QuickBooks Online. I'll be here to help you.

@Giovann_G  Stop telling people that.  There are MULTIPLE posts throughout this community with the exact same issue.  MULTIPLE threads where we are being told, by your cohorts, that it is under investigation.

This is one of MANY!!

@cyberdog3  Search the threads, you'll see it is NOT you or your browser.  It is a KNOWN QB issue.

Hi there, ZaraLA.

I can see that there are separate threads that have similar questions about being unable to write a check from a vendor. Please see this link for more details: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/install/re-when-i-print-checks-i-only-want-to-prin...

Was there any resolution on this? Here it is 2024 and I am having this same issue.

@wfenton1  It works, and has worked, since they fixed it over 2 years ago.

If it is a new issue for you, you should try clearing your cache files or contacting "Support" (who know NOTHING).

Thanks. It is not working for entering bills. I have cleared the cache. When I hit tab it takes me to the top every time.
