You'll have to make sure that you're only using one QuickBooks Payments account for one company file at a time. If you're connecting your payments account to a different company, follow the steps below:
- In QuickBooks Desktop, go to the Customers menu.
- Select Link Payment Service to Company File. If you see a message about credit card protection, fill out the fields and select OK.
- Enter the user ID and password you used to sign up for QuickBooks Payments. Then select Sign In.
- Select Connect. Or if you're transferring your payments account to another company file, select Transfer and then Yes, transfer.
Once done, you'll see an icon on the homepage that tells you you're signed in and connected to QuickBooks Payments. Double-check if you're still getting the error.
