Ah, I see, GBastawros. Thanks for getting back to me.

In this instance you may consider the Custom option. By selecting Custom, you'll be able to choose which permissions you'd like the individual to have.

You can find out more by following this link: Team member settings and permissions in QuickBooks Time

I'll be here if there's anything else I can assist with.

Welcome to the Community, @GBastawros.

I'm here to share information about approving timesheets in QuickBooks.

Yes, you'll need to assign a group manager to have permission to approve and manage timesheets.

Here's how:

  1. In QuickBooks Time, go to My Team.
  2. Choose Groups and Managers.
  3. Find the group and hit Managers.
  4. Search for and select the team member who will manage the group, then select +Add.
Note: To remove a manager, select the Remove this manager icon next to the manager.
  5. Once you're done, click Close.

I've also added this article for more information about managing group members in QuickBooks: Add and manage groups and managers in QuickBooks Time.

Thank you so much for replying. My question is that Do I need to give the manager a specific permission to be able to approve time off and team members' timesheets.  In other words, if Employee "X" has the permission of "worker" and has been assigned as a manager of a group (He is not a member of that group) Does he need a custom permission  instead of worker to grand the access to timesheets and PTO requests of the team he manage?

Thanks for following up with those additional details, GBastawros.

I'm happy to answer your question about the permissions needed in QuickBooks Time to approve timesheets.

Your employee that has been assigned as the manager would need to also have manager permission within the account. At this time, workers are not able to approve time, as only managers have the ability to do so.

The following article provides additional info about setting up timesheet submission and approvals in QuickBooks Time.

Thank you For your reply. I have the approval add-on installed. but again what level of permissions shall I give to the group manage?

By going to my team>>choose the manager>>permissions, there are a set of 4 permissions:

1- Admin

2- payroll Manage

3- Custom

4- Worker

Which one of those should be the group manager in order to let him be able to approve ONLY this group members' timesheets and PTO's (not all the team members aka emplyees) and making sure that he is not able to see the employee data (salary,,,etc)?
