Buy now & saveI accidentally upgrade from Self-Employed Online to Quickbook Online. Now all my receipts are missing.
Using QBO the transaction suggestion is so wrong.
The Bank Connection is never able to reestablished.
And they would not let you downgrade back which is crazy!
I am thinking of moving away from this stupid tax software.
Hi @sabiiii ,
QuickBooks Self-Employed is designed for sole proprietors and focuses on categorizing income and expenses for tax purposes (primarily Schedule C). While you can often attach images of receipts, the primary focus isn't on robust document management in the same way as the full QuickBooks Online version.
When you upgrade, the core financial data (like your transactions) should transfer over. However, the way receipt attachments are stored and linked might not always seamlessly transition.
Let's Get to Troubleshooting - Here's What You Can Try:
Double-Check QuickBooks Self-Employed: The very first thing I'd recommend is to log back into your QuickBooks Self-Employed account (if you still have access) and see if your receipts are still there. It's possible they haven't been fully migrated yet or the migration process didn't include the attachments.
Look for Export Options in QuickBooks Self-Employed: If your receipts are still in Self-Employed, see if there's an option to export your data, including attachments. QuickBooks Self-Employed might have a feature to export transactions with associated documents. Look for options like "Reports," "Export Data," or similar settings. If you find a way to export them, you might be able to import them into QuickBooks Online (though this might require some manual work).
Check Your Bank and Credit Card Feeds in QuickBooks Online: Even if the visual receipt attachments are missing, the transactions themselves should have transferred to QuickBooks Online if your bank and credit card accounts were connected. You might be able to re-attach the receipts to these existing transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Think About Where Else You Might Have Stored Your Receipts: This might seem obvious, but take a moment to think about where you originally kept your receipts. Did you scan them to your computer? Save them in a cloud storage service like Google Drive or Dropbox? Did you take photos of them with your phone? Checking these places might help you recover copies of your receipts that you can then upload to QuickBooks Online.
Contact QuickBooks Support Directly: This is a crucial step if you can't find your receipts in QuickBooks Self-Employed or if they didn't transfer to QuickBooks Online. The QuickBooks support team has specialized tools and knowledge about the migration process and might be able to help you locate or recover your missing data.
What to Do If You Recover Your Receipts (or for Future Use):

I found it robust and better than quickbook online. If it is designed for sole proprietors, why discontinue it and not letting me know before I upgrade?
I have so many receipts in self employed, attaching them 1-1 to quickbook is NOT an acceptable way for a software upgrade.
At this point, I just want to downgrade back to Self-employed. Please help me do so.
