QuickBooks Time clocked me in on its own

Hello,

When I went to clock in this morning, my QB Time app on the phone said I was already clocked in! I checked the Time Entries, and the time entry started at 12am from the QB Time web portal! I was not even awake then, nor have I ever used QB on my personal computer, so it is clearly some kind of error.
Should I be concerned? Has anyone else had this happen? Is there something I should do to ensure this mistake doesn't reoccur?

Thank you,

CM

A clear record of who accessed and changed data in your QuickBooks Time account is essential to your operations, CMick. Let me share some details on managing this as it could compromise sensitive data.

To sort this out, access your QuickBooks Time audit trail feature, this functionality tracks user activity and provides the ability to view the IP address. I suggest checking it out and see if it's your IP address. Go to Company Settings then, System log.

Moreover, here are some tips to safeguard your account:

  • Don't share your Intuit passwords with anyone.
  • Make sure that your password is complex. Include both numbers and capital letters.
  • Ensure you have virus protection and a firewall on any computer you use to access Intuit products.
  • Don't install programs from people or companies you don't know.

We utilize cutting-edge, industry-standard security measures and virus protection to ensure your financial data remains confidential and secure. This includes password-protected sign-ins, servers safeguarded by firewalls, and encryption technology on par with that used by leading global banks.

QuickBooks Time clocked me in on its own

AdonL,

Thank you for your prompt response.

I have done as you advised and checked the timesheet log for IP addresses associated with my account for yesterday and today. Oddly, there is no log for the "clock-in" time at 12am, only that I had "clocked-out" at 7:48am, when I personally clocked my time to stop the running log from 12am. I clocked back in, deleted the line for 12am-7:48am, and added notes. Everything from the clock-out until now is logged, and everything from yesterday's log also seems accurate. I confirmed my IP address and they matched the log.

I double-checked my team's logs and they also look untampered with. Should I do anything else?

Thank you,

CM

QuickBooks Time clocked me in on its own

Eman_E,

Thanks for the reply. My team does not have set clock-in times, so setting a clock-in time would be unhelpful and probably create unnecessary anxiety among my team members. I did check the box for "notes required", so that might stop a possible compromise, but there was otherwise nothing that seemed pertinent to the issue at hand since it was under my account that the erroneous clocked time happened.

Regards,

CM
