There are several reasons why the tabs may not be visible on your QuickBooks Online, Lisa. We can examine them one by one to ensure you can manage breaks with both products.
Please know you need an active Payroll subscription on your Online version to manage breaks there. Otherwise, use the classic QuickBooks Time. To check your plans, follow these steps:
- Go to the Gear icon at the top-right corner.
- Under Profile column, click Subscriptions and billing tab.
If you've verified that it's inactive and wish to add a Payroll service, you can do so in your current QuickBooks Online account or visit this page:
QuickBooks Payroll.
However, if you've subscribed to Premium Payroll or Elite Payroll but the Assignments and Break preferences under the Time tab are unavailable, access your account via a private window. This way, we can determine if it's a cache issue. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:
- Safari: Command + Shift + N
- Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
- Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

clear the browser's cache to remove all stored data and enhance its performance. As an alternative, utilize other
supported browsers also helps us verify if this is a browser-specific issue.
Furthermore, please confirm you're logged in as the QuickBooks Time admins. For new accounts, QuickBooks Time automatically includes the breaks feature. For more information, refer to this guide:
