Can I set zoom/scaling for navigation menus in the Quickbooks windows app?

Windows 10 on Surface Pro 4 (native screen resolution 2736 x 1824)
Quickbooks desktop app allows me to zoom/scale just like in the browser, except that it only scales the content in the middle screen of the app, not the menu and navigation panels. As a result, the navigation buttons are too small to see/use conveniently.

Can I set zoom/scaling for navigation menus in the Quickbooks windows app?

QB is not capable of handling the high density monitors, and as a result you have the problem you have

the only solution I have see to this, is in this link - it was developed for adobe but users who have followed the instructions report that it works for QB

Can I set zoom/scaling for navigation menus in the Quickbooks windows app?

I was on call with customer support. After I did all the troubleshooting, they said Quickbooks does not support high resolution. One would think they would have this addressed with so many high resolution computers and screens in the market.

2 years & running without addressing larger High-resolution monitors?   Also Multi-Monitor Mode - is useless without being able to scale < 100 %. makes this feature useless

Another solution in this particular case is to use Window's native scaling overrides. Right-click on the shortcut you use to launch the app (or the executable in the install folder - usually under "[user]\AppData\...") and select "Properties">"Compatibility">"Change High DPI Settings". From here you change a few options: first under "Program DPI" check the "Use this setting to fix scaling..." box, next under "Use the DPI that's set..." change the dropdown menu to "I signed in to Windows," and finally under "High DPI scaling override" check the box and in the dropdown choose "System" (other options might work better, you have to close and reopen the application after each applied change to verify). The result won't be pretty, things are slightly soft around the edges, but the navigation panel should be readable.

Can I set zoom/scaling for navigation menus in the Quickbooks windows app?

This worked.  I was using QB Pro 2013 on a 7-yr-old laptop.  I downloaded the program onto my new Dell Precision Mobileworkstation 7750, and the navigation menus and scrollbars were miniscule.  In the Check Register, the splits menu (Recalc, Close, etc.) was crowded and unreasonable to use.  I followed these instructions, and the nav menus and scroll bars, etc., are now scaled properly.  As noted, the text is a bit fuzzy, but manageable.  Now, my problem continues to be that the program keeps crashing.  :(

Was this ever resolved?; as the engineers were working on a solution, it’s been almost 3 years. Is it resolved?

Hello, Abarua79.

The thread is originally tagged under QuickBooks Online. However, I'd be glad to give details regarding the scaling on both programs.

Are you using QuickBooks Desktop? QuickBooks Desktop is currently designed for the default Windows DPI value (smaller - 100% (96 DPI)). There will be scaling issues on high-resolution systems, so you'll want to tweak your DPI settings.

It looks like the thread provided by IntuitCheyann is already deleted. You have the option to contact us so our agents will be able to check the details and updates before it was deleted. Use these steps to reach one of our agents:

  1. On QuickBooks Desktop, press the F1 key.
  2. Click the Contact Us link at the bottom.
  3. In the Ask a question box, enter something like "DPI resolution update last 2018."
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Select either Start a chat or Get a callback

For now, you can follow the solutions provided by Rustler or BKThompson.

This article also has the steps and details on how you can change your DPI settings (QuickBooks and in Windows): Fix screen issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you're using QuickBooks Online Windows app, the scaling works exactly like the one in the browser.

Zooming in and out will change how the user interface would appear. The buttons will get smaller as you zoom out or if you're using a high-resolution monitor.

You can zoom in to make the buttons and user interface bigger as you work on QuickBooks Online.

Take note that we already discontinued the app, so there will be issues since we don't release updates and hotfixes for it anymore.

Do you need to check your financial data through reports? You can check one of these articles to help you pull up an effective report:

If you have any other questions about QuickBooks' settings and processes, please let me know the details below. I'd be glad to help you out again.
