This didn't work. I installed the Tool Hub, and ran the PDF Print & Repair Tool - no result. I went through the entire 1099 wizard again, and STILL have 2-part forms printing.
Again, I'm working in Pro Plus 2022 with all updated installed. I even checked just now to see if there were any new updates, and there aren't.
I already did the updates. I have Pro Plus 2022 and installed the updates before trying to run the 3-part 1099-NEC forms. They still print as 2-part. I also took another Intuit employee's advice and installed the Tool Hub and ran the PRD/Print Fix program. QB still won't print 3-part forms. I bought these forms back in AUGUST. I don't understand how Intuit can sell me forms ($77 for the smallest pack available) and claim they are "time saving" when it's beginning to look like I will be handwriting all of my 1099s at this rate. Like many people that do bookkeeping, I have other jobs in addition to this and I need to get these done ASAP.
Then how come some of the other accountants on here are reporting that they ARE able to print the 3-part forms? What's the catch? What version/settings/patch do they have that I don't?
You "can see the importance of being able to print the forms in the system"? Why else would anyone BUY the forms from Intuit OTHER than to print them in the system? We didn't buy them so that we can spend days handwriting them. I bought the forms from Intuit in August, and now we're running out of time to get them printed and mailed. Bookkeeping isn't my only job, as is true for many accounting professionals. By next week, I'll be too busy at my FT job plus I'm back in grad school. The plan was to get these printed over the holiday break.
My client has Quickbooks 2021 Premier. She is unable to print the 1099-NEC forms 3 to a page per the forms that Intuit sold her : https://intuitmarket.intuit.com/tax-forms/1099-forms
She has installed all available updates. She has installed the latest payroll update. She has done the Quickbooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. She has contacted Intuit via phone and they were unwilling/unable to help her!?!
Is printing 1099's no longer an option that Quickbooks is supporting? It is January 3rd, 2022. Messages from this thread date back well over a month. Intuit, WHY IS THIS STILL AN ISSUE?
I have multiple clients that use Quickbooks, always under my recommendation. With an issue like this I'm not so sure Quickbooks is the leading software anymore. :(
Incredible. I've tried everything mentioned here, and the 1099-NECs still are printing two-up. It is unconscionable that Intuit would sell three-up forms knowing that the program can't handle it.
What every Quickbooks user deserves is a date certain by which we can expect the fix to be made -- IF that date gives a reasonable amount of time to prep the forms before the regulatory deadline. Anything less is irresponsible. While I've been a loyal QB user since 1993, should I be looking at alternatives?

I am having the exact same problem. I have ran all updates and also did the Hub solution. Nothing has worked. I have spent 2 hours on the phone with support and have not figured anything out. Please help as I need to print the 1099Nec 3 per page forms. I do not need a payroll subscription.
Hi, FritzF. Thanks for offering a solution, but this is not a printer issue. (I did try your solution.) According to numerous previous replies and a support agent whom I spoke to yesterday, QuickBooks has not released an update to fix the issue, which is very frustrating seeing that we are not having this discussion on January 4, 2022, and it is still not fixed.
STILL NOT ABLE TO MAP to 1099 NEC --- I go to the Wizard and the drop downs for the 1099 NEC IS FROZEN on boxes from the OLD FORMS ---- I have been on the phone with Quickbooks over THIRTY HOURS on this subject and STILL NO HELP - the "HELP" I got ended up CRASHING THE PROGRAM to the point where I spend the better part of a day trying to log ON. Is my crime having a business that has a data file more than 5 years old? WHAT IS GOING ON???
Great SOMEONE has 3 part 1099 -- I CAN'T EVEN MAP THE NEC ACCOUNTS THE DROP DOWN MENU IS FROZEN!
Hi there, @eh75.
I understand the importance of being able to print 1099-NEC forms.
I'd like to inform you that QuickBooks is not yet updated for the recent changes about printing 3 to a page 1099 Form.
Before year-end, QuickBooks update the form to be compliant with IRS. Thus, I recommend checking our Product Updates page for reference to be notified of any news and updates about QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Alternatively, you can look for a third a party app that lets you print 3 pages of the 1099 form. You can go to the Apps Center from your QBDT software and browse for an app from there.
Please make sure to download and install any payroll updates once prompted. You can also manually by following these steps:
Let me also share these articles that can guide you in filing your forms seamlessly:

So is there a timeline of when Quickbooks will be able to print this form 3 per page?
Yeah, this has NOT HAPPENED ... the year is OVER and it still is NOT WORKING.
AbigailS, I appreciate your time and effort in replying to this thread, but we really need answers, not just the same canned responses. Please refer to previous replies to this thread by fellow Intuit employees.
1. It is January 4, 2022, so QuickBooks has not "updated the form to be compliant with IRS" before year-end.
2. Rest assured that every single one of us have updated the software and our payroll before we take the time to come and post on this forum.
3. We should not have to search for and/or purchase a third-party app. We paid for QuickBooks and payroll subscriptions with the understanding that we could use it to complete and/or file IRS-compliant forms.
I know that this is not your problem, but we would all greatly appreciate it if you would make sure that the coders at Intuit are working on this problem and are getting a solution as soon as possible.
Dude (AbegailS), did you read what you wrote? You said before the end of the year it will be fixed. Do you mean 2022? Umm...we're required to file forms by Feb 1, and doing it last minute isn't something I -- or anybody else with a rational mind -- would look forward to. Could we please get somebody from Intuit -- somebody who is actually empowered to get things right, not reply with seemingly soothing words -- tell us WHEN THIS WILL BE FIXED? I
I have spent the greater part of the day "Updating QBDT", reading the threads on QBHelp and after doing everything suggested i.e. Windows Firewall changes (QB Data Server Mngr; reconfiguring Dynamic Port rules), Quickbooks Tool Hub, even tried to update Payroll tax table (I don't even have Payroll, lol, but hey I wasn't leaving anything to chance). Nothing has worked. How did one person above in this thread get program to print 3 to a page? I have one issue I have not been able to fix that might have something to do with this. "Critical Fixes" update is still "Pending". Tried everything to fix that too. It is a rabbit hole I have gone down and am really frustrated that I bought these forms Intuit and they don't work with the program. Using QBDT Pro 2020 and have 5 companies I have to get 1099's out for.
So I, like most on this thread, spent more time than anyone should in trying to prepare 1099's. It appears QBO will print 1099 NEC, 3 forms to a page, but QBDT does not. Why would Intuit fix one software and not the other?!?
Considering the years I have been a loyal customer and amount of money paid for the software and support, this is really unacceptable.
I can imagine the hurdle you've been through in fixing the issue when printing 1099-NEC, @knightxreader.
To print a 3-page copy of your form 1099 NEC, ensure that your QuickBooks Desktop is on the latest release with appropriate ULIPs applied.
Here's how you can do it:
Close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop after the update is complete. To install the updates, click on Yes, and then restart your computer.
Just hit the Reply button for further questions about this matter or QuickBooks. I'm always here to guide you through. Take care!
You "cannot imagine" 30 plus hours of my time have gone into this already AT CUSTOMER SUPPORT whose "gift" was making taking a working program with a problem to a NOT ACCESSIBLE AT ALL program -- and when the problem was "escalated" I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM SINCE AND IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN 48 HOURS.

I was told by tech support yesterday that an update will be sent out this Friday. I'm not expecting that to happen, but we shall see. I am preparing to handwrite my 1099 NEC's. I don't know what else to do
Same here. I used to handwrite them years ago. It takes forever, and the worst part is that the AI at the gov' that scans them sometimes doesn't read the handwritten characters correctly, so then you get a nasty letter in the mail from the State of the IRS - and then you get to deal with clarifying things with the gov'.
This is absolutely crazy. I still can't get over spending what I did on their forms back in August, and the software can't use them.
You probably already know this, but clicking on the Desktop Help button does NOT launch into a screen allowing you to request help from QB by phone or chat. It simply launches into a search of help topics...which leads you right back here if you click on any of them!
Hi there, Kayte.
I appreciate you for letting us know your experience when contacting our phone support. I would feel the same regarding the printing 1099 NEC is not working. Since the Help menu is not working, I'm here to help you get the support you need.
You can reach our QuickBooks Desktop support here: Contact Us.
Furthermore, you can get updates on your concern from them. They have a record and will be able to pull up the details for you.
Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have other questions or concerns.
I spent 1.25 hours on the phone with Support today. At the end of the conversation, he told me he would pass the information along, but they did not have a date on when they expected to have the issue resolved with the 1099 NEC. It is truly unbelievable Intuit has it working for QBO, but not QBDT. I am sure it has nothing to do with the money stream (LOL)
I have run all available updates and my QuickBooks 2020 desktop still wants to print the NEC 2 per page instead of 3 per page.
Any idea when this will be corrected??
