Hi tom-deluca!

Good to see you here. Let me show you how to reflect the markup and other billable information.

Let's check your invoice template. It's possible that the option to add them was turned off. Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Custom form styles.
  2. Find the invoice template you're using and click Edit.
  3. From the Content tab, click the body part of the preview (middle part).
  4. Click the Show more activity options link and make sure that the Show markup on billable expense is checked.
  5. Tap Done.

If the same thing happens, let's perform some troubleshooting steps. Start by using an incognito window and preview the invoice from there.

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P

Also, you'll want to clear the cache to help fix issues in QuickBooks Online. Lastly, make sure you're using an up-to-date browser.

Alex, the problem I'm having is with recurring BILL templates.

When I create a bill and make it recurring, the resulting template is not retaining the markup details of the line items - specifically, the billable checkbox and the customer name.  Prior to the update I installed last night, that information was saved in the template.

Thanks.

Hello, Tom Deluca.

I appreciate taking the time to get back to us. I have one more solution to fix the missing billable details before we escalate this.

There might've been an issue on the template itself, where it doesn't retain the billable details when creating setting a bill as recurring.

One way to fix this is to delete and recreate the template. Here's how:

  1. Go to your Recurring transactions list.
  2. Find the bill template.
  3. Click the arrow icon beside Edit.
  4. Select Delete

Then, recreate the template with all the information added.

If it still doesn't retain the billable information, you'll want to contact our support at this point. They'll check deeper into the system and find out what's preventing the template from using all the information. Here's how to reach them:

  1. Open QB Assistant by clicking the Help menu.
  2. Select Talk to a human
  3. When asked, enter "Billable data doesn't retain when creating a bill template.
  4. Proceed with I still need a human.
  5. Click the Get help from a human link.
  6. Select Get a call back or Start a message

After dealing with the bill template, do you have other tasks you need to tend do? You're welcome to browse for guides in our articles list page. I'm sure they can help you record other transactions or even run reports.

You're always welcome to post here again. This thread is still open for other questions in QuickBooks Online. I'm here to help.

Thanks James.  Deleting and re-creating the template was the first thing I did.
