Using QBO. Client has several hundred vendors marked as Track for 1099's. Have Taxpayer ID'S .
When I try to pull a 1099 INFORMATION SHEET, there are no names there, even though there are a number of recipients over the $600 threshold.
Oddly enough, when I change the filter to include vendors UNDER THE $600.00. Threshold, the vendor names appear, but they still don't show up on the list nor can I print them.
There's no way to map 1099's like on Desktop.
Client thinks we're idiots, which is what I'm beginning to think about Quickbooks.
NOT HAPPY!
Hello,
Have you checked to make sure ALL the correct expense accounts used for these contractors are mapped and selected on the 1099 setup screen? It's possible you don't realize they have bills or expenses hitting the incorrect expense accounts OR you forgot to checkmark ALL the used expense accounts on the mapping step.
The most common reasons contractors are not showing up are:
1. Date for a transaction is not for the correct tax year
2. Transactions are hitting incorrect expense accounts
3. On the 1099 mapping screen you haven't selected ALL the expense accounts used on the transactions. (you can select multiple accounts for QuickBooks Online to look at)
Just some things you might want to check.
(picture below)
Along with checking the expense accounts used for payments to insure those are mapped to the 1099, only cash and check payments are counted when calculating the total reportable amounts.
Bills do not count as they are not paid, 1099 reporting is cash based only.
Hi, are the 1099 Detail and summary reports both always on a cash basis? I checked and there are not any cash or accrual radial buttons like on other QB reports...
I know how important it is to get accurate data when 1099 running reports, abcnse. I'm here to assist you with that.
You can customize the 1099 Contractor Balance Detail and Summary report to an Accrual basis instead of Cash. Doing so helps you view the data you'd like to see.
To do this, I'd suggest following these steps:
If you're unable to switch to Accrual, I'd suggest accessing your QuickBooks Online via a private window. This doesn't use the existing cache files, which makes it a good place to determine if this is a browser-related issue.
Here are the keyboard shortcuts:
Once signed in, switch to Accrual again. If you're able to do so, let's clear the browser's cache. This removes its stored files to ensure the program performs efficiently.
If it doesn't work, I'd recommend using other supported browsers. They'll provide the best and most secure experience with QuickBooks.

Please keep us posted on your progress in running the 1099 reports, abcnse. It's always my priority to get this resolved.
Nut behind the wheel, here but I could use some help. 1099 Detail / Summary Reports can be created but there are only zeros. Toggles are on as is confirmed by the list. Subs are accounted for by proper accounts. ie: Advertising #6000. Legal & Accounting #6210. Rent #6400. Etc. There is another 'Account' field on each 1099 subs form/dossier when entering them into the system. Where would that account number come from? Is that the missing piece? Is this tied to the chart of accounts or user entered and define?
Hello there, @cmaddox.
I've tried running the 1099 Detail or Summary reports in my QuickBooks Online sample company file, and I haven't seen an Account field or column on the report.
For us to provide the best resolution to your concern, can you please share a screenshot of the report you're running? This way, we can identify which account number you're referring to.
The Community team and I will be standing by for your response so we can address your concern. Have a great day ahead!
