As an independent contractor; do i deduct business miles if i meet with a client at a temporary work location every time I go to work?

This is my question, but I couldn't figure out how to post the details.

I am an independent contractor with no regular place of work. I work at clients' houses for them in a temporary capacity ( normally my contract is 15 nights of work, less than 3 months).

I am a doula, working postpartum to help new parents and their babies adjust to life at home.

Does any of this count towards mileage?

I know that temporary work inside of my metropolitan area is commuting but it also says meeting with clients id a business mileage expense (and I meet with my clients' every night I work and discuss our plan for the night/changes etc).

You may need to consult a tax professional first if you can use mileage tracking for this scenario to ensure accurate taxes. If this is counted as mileage expense, you can perform the steps below on how to track this in QBSE.

For manual tracking:

  1. Tap Mileage.
  2. Then go to the Plus icon to create a new entry.
  3. Enter the trip details. When you're done, select Save.

You can also set automatic tracking on your mobile app: Use automatic mileage tracking for QuickBooks Self-Employed.

To know more about mileage deduction, please refer to this link: Learn how QuickBooks Self-Employed calculates your mileage deduction.

As always, I'm just a few clicks away if you should have questions or need anything. Wishing you well.

I've read your original post, @xxshixx.

Yes, you can deduct business miles as long as the trip is related to your self-employed job. Then, contact TurboTax support for tax-related concerns. This way, they will assist you properly regarding with your tax questions.
