Assembly Items

I have built and used assemblies for years.  I created a new one, using shipping as an item because I have a per piece cost that needs to be accounted for.  However, when I go to build assembly, the item shows no inventory even though there are 15,000 parts added from a vendor invoice?

Assembly Items

Good evening, @skaminski.

Let's try some troubleshooting to your program to see if any errors show for the Item. No worries, I'm here to walk you through a Verify and Rebuild to your data as the first step in the process. If you have Assisted Payroll, then I'd recommend reaching out to our Desktop Support for further assistance. I've provided the steps below on how to do this with ease:

Verify the Data:

  1. Go to Window in the top menu, then Close All.
  2. Click on File in the top menu, then Utilities > Verify Data.
    • "QuickBooks detected no problems with your data," no further action is needed.
    • A specific error message, there may already be an article for it. Try searching for it in our QuickBooks Desktop support site for specific instructions.
    • "Your data has lost integrity," indicates there is data damage in the file.  Continue to the steps below to Rebuild Data to correct the problem.

Rebuild the Data:

  1. Go to File in the top menu, then Utilities Rebuild Data.
  2. You'll receive a warning message to backup your company file, press OK. Follow the on-screen steps to save the file.
  3. The Rebuild Data utility starts as soon as the backup is finished.
  4. Hit OK when you get the message "Rebuild has completed".

You're almost finished! Let's check to see if there are any remaining data. All you have to do is go to File in the top menu, then Utilities Verify Data. To learn more about this process, click here.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate and reach back out to me! I'm just a Reply away. Have a safe week ahead.

Assembly Items

Hi, skaminski.

There's an ongoing issue about the shortage report showing blank or incorrect amounts in QuickBooks. Our engineers are already working to get this fixed as soon as possible.

You can manually look over for the build assembly for the items that are short for the pending build.

I also recommend contacting our support team to add you to the notification list. Here's how to reach them:

  1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern, then select Continue.
  4. Choose a way to connect with us:
    • Post a question and get an answer from expert and other customers.
    • Start messaging with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.

I have included these help articles for Inventory And Project for your future reference.

Please keep me posted if you have further questions. I'll always be right here to help.

@skaminski

Try create a dummy file or open a sample one. If the same problem persists, you have to resintall QB. Otherwise, your data file may be damaged. Contact and ask Intuit Data Service to fix it, or consider purchasing a 3rd party file repair service.
