We appreciate you visiting the Community, patrebbAWF1.

I'll help you match payroll transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Please know that QuickBooks will not create a Journal Entry for payroll. Therefore, you need to match the payroll check to the corresponding transaction from your bank feeds.

Here's how to manually match the transaction if the system cannot find the right one:

  1. Head to Transactions, then Bank transactions.
  2. In the For review tab, locate and select the transaction.
  3. Click on Match, then choose the paycheck on the Find Other Matches page.
  4. Once done, select Match.

For more information, you can visit this article: Match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

On the other hand, you can also let QuickBooks match payroll entries instead of manually matching them if you're using direct deposit. You can refer to this material for guidance: Automatically match QuickBooks Online product transactions.

Moreover, you might want to review this resource to review your accounts and keep your record accurate: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

This is not the problem.  I have Auto payroll and only one employee check was able to match.  I am waiting for QB to fix it.  Just wondering if there is a manual fix I can do without doubling up payroll items.  Nothing is showing up in chart of accounts, however my payroll report is correct.  Checks were withdrawn from bank and everyone received their direct deposits.  Payroll settings are correct.  They might be working on it now, since one more payroll check has found a match, however it still does not show up in chart of accounts. I am just impatient waiting when there is no communication of the status.

We understand the importance of checking and matching your payroll payments with your bank transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO), patrebbAWF1. Let me share some information about this and help you check and match them accordingly.

If all your team members work the same number of hours, Auto Payroll will create paychecks automatically without creating Journal entry data. We can check the Paycheck History report to see its information and match it with the deposited amount on your employee's account.

Here's how:

  1. On the Reports tab, select Report.
  2. Enter the "Paycheck History" on the Find report by name ▼.
  3. Filter the accurate pay date range.
  4. Click the paycheck's amount to check the paycheck details on a designated employee.

After confirming, we can now review and match those transactions from your For review tab on your Banking page.

  1. Go to Transactions, then select Bank transactions.
  2. Choose the For review tab.
  3. Select the transactions connected to your payroll payments. Then, review the suggested match.
  4. Choose the accurate match, then hit Match.

Furthermore, this data should typically be available in your Chart of accounts. Since these transactions are missing, I recommend using a private browser to narrow down the result. You can follow the keyboard shortcut keys below to do so:

  • Safari: Command + Option + P
  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox or Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift +

However, if the issue persists despite using incognito mode, I recommend using another supported browser. For more information about this, you can check this article: System requirements for QuickBooks Online products.

In addition, I'll add this article as a reference if you need to run reports specific to Payroll seamlessly in QBO: Run payroll reports.

You can comment below if you need additional help with your payroll payments and transactions in QuickBooks. We'll be in touch.

Auto payroll did not create journal entries, therefore they have nothing to match to when bank withdrawals come through.

This is a waste of my time I have done all this.  I have a ticket for it, It would be nice to get information from tech support to see if this was fixed.  For some odd reason the paychecks did not post in chart of account direct deposit payable or in the chart of accounts for my checking account.

The current paychecks are listed in the chart of accounts and should be able to match when they come through tomorrow.  Just waiting to see how I need to get these to match up.  Do I need to manually enter the information or will that cause other problems?  Waiting for an answer for ticket #15113549781.

Thought maybe someone might know how to solve from the community.

OOPs  That payroll check only found a match to the payroll entry for 3/15 not 2/29.
