I use Quickbooks Premier Plus 2020 desktop. On my company preferences, I have selected automatically assign general journal entry numbers. I have never had a problem until this month when the numbers started repeating the same numbers as was assigned in January. I don't understand how this can happen. Any thoughts or solutions?

Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community. I'll share troubleshooting steps to ensure QuickBooks will assign the journal entry numbers seamlessly.
Since the said option is now working inaccurately, data damage might be the reason why the numbers started repeating the same numbers. With this, I recommend running the Verify/Rebuild Utility tool to check and fix any issues in the company file. Before doing so, make sure to create a backup to avoid any accidental data loss.

Once done, I reccomend creating a dummy journal entry and manually enter the transaction no. Then, you'll have to delete it after saving it. This is to ensure that after verifying/rebuilding your company file, the data refresh its default state. Thank you very much. Even though there were no issues found when I did the verify, I ran the rebuild anyway. I created a dummy general journal entry and everything is back to normal.
