Bad Inventory Import messed up Journal Entries and General Ledger

Being new to the system, I should have made a backup. I imported and made inactive multiple times inventory trying to get it right so that it can display correctly for COGS. What I failed to realize is that every time I did this a Journal Entry was created, and the General Ledger was updated. Now My reports are incorrect my accountant. How do I go about fixing my General Ledger by deleting Journal Entries made by improperly handling importing and deleting of inventory?

Please help me, I have to have this fixed by tonight, and haven't found any information online on how to fix this.

Bad Inventory Import messed up Journal Entries and General Ledger

Good day, AnotherSmallBusinessOwner.

In QuickBooks Online, you're unable to create a backup copy. Your data is securely saved in the clouds.

When you delete/inactivate an item, our system will automatically create a journal entry. Since these entries created a discrepancy, you can create an inventory adjustment to fix it. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Products and Services.
  3. Choose an item, then click Edit.
  4. Under Quantity on hand, choose either Quantity or Starting value.
  5. Make some changes, then click Save and close

As always, I suggest consulting with your accountant on the best way to handle this.

You can post anytime in the Community if you have other concerns. Have a nice day!

Did you do this in Desktop or QBO?

If in QBO, then an "Inventory Quantity Adjustment" type transaction is created that puts the balance if any into the "Inventory Shrinkage" COGS type expense account.  You can delete these transactions in the Inventory Asset register in the COA

No. It's an Inventory Quantity Adjustment type transaction, not a Journal Entry.
