Can I customize the 1099 Summary report to use the Company Name?

QuickBooks prints 1099s using the Company Name for the Recipients Name field on the actual 1099 form. When you print the 1099 Summary report--which is useful tool to review the vendor's legal name and TIN/EIN--the totally irrelevant Vendor Name field is used in the 1099 Summary report.

Can I customize the 1099 Summary report to use the Company Name?

Hi there, xtian.

The 1099 Summary reviews the cash outflows of each vendor whom you filed a 1099-MISC form. Customizing the report has some limitations in which the option to use the Company Name in the Vendor Name field is unavailable.

You'll want to run a separate report called Vendor Contact List to view the vendor's information. Then match it with the summary report.

Here are the step:

  1. Go to the Reports menu located at the top.
  2. Select Vendors & Payables > Vendor Contact List.

You can also check this article for reference: How to create 1099 summary or detail reports.

Let me know if you need anything else. I'm just a post away. Thanks.
