Can my contractor get another copy of his 1099 emailed to him?

I paid to have QBs process a 1099. My contractor tried to open the auto e-mail to download his 1099 and there was an error! I am so frustrated with this system. How do I get another one emailed to him?

Can my contractor get another copy of his 1099 emailed to him?

I want to ensure your contractors can get a copy of his 1099 form, @dawndelalamo.


Before we proceed with the steps, may I know the error your contractor encountered when attempting to download the form? Any information is a great help so I can provide a timely solution.


In the meantime, you can ask your contractor to open the email and download 1099 using an incognito browser. This will give them a fresh start and errors held in cache or cookies will no longer apply. Below are the shortcut keys for the private browser they can use:


  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N 
  • Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N


If this works, I'd recommend clearing the cache of their regular browser. This will refresh website preferences that might be causing problems when opening sites. If the same thing happens, they can use other supported browsers to access the email.


If the issue persists, you can recreate the form. Once done, you can download it and attach it to the email for your contractor. Here's how:


  1. Go to the Expenses menu and choose Vendors.
  2. Select the Prepare 1099s button to open the 1099 wizard page.
  3. From there, click Continue your 1099s and select the Finish preparing 1099s button.
  4. Next, choose Print and mail.
  5. You will see a page where you’ll have to pick the form type and paper used to print the tax return.
  6. Click the Print on 1099 forms option and Print
  7. Then, in the Print settings window, select the Destination drop-down and pick Save as PDF.
  8. Click the Save button and then select the location you wish to keep the file.

However, if you e-filed the 1099 form, you can log in to your 1099 E-File Service account to download the form and re-emailed it to your contractor. Let me guide you how:


  1. Input your Intuit login credentials. 
  2. Select Sign In
  3. Click View past forms page. 
  4. Print the form.
