Changing the deposit date of a customer's deposit

Welcome to the Community, @Memo79.

I'd be delighted to help you with changing the deposit date on a check. I will make sure this gets fixed.

To clarify, is this a check that you received and deposited into your bank account? If so, let me walk you through how to edit the deposit date.

If you are using the QBO Mac app, go to your register and locate the deposit. Then, edit the date.

In addition, you can also go directly to the website to update the date.

1. Go to the Accounting tab and select Chart of Accounts.
2. Choose the register associated with the deposit, then click View register.
3. Locate the deposit and click on the date field.
4. Change the date to the correct one and tap Save.

I've added this informative article about reviewing and editing transactions in account registers. This will guide you along the process.

On the other hand, kindly refer to these steps if you are using a Mac for QBDT.

1. Go to the Chart of Accounts and double-click the name of the balance sheet account whose register you’d like to open.
2. Click Open Register at the bottom of the Chart of Accounts.
3. Open the register where the transactions appear.
4. Go to the transaction and edit the fields you want to change.

Furthermore, you can edit deposits (designated by DEP in the Type field) without restrictions. To edit them, double-click the transactions to display them in their complete form.

Once done, go back to the check register and review. If you want more detailed information on how to edit transactions in QBDT for Mac, you can click this link.

You'll want to reconcile your account to maintain the state of your company. To practice this, please take a look at these articles for more insights:

Fill me in if you have further questions about editing checks. I'll be around if you need any help. Have a beautiful day!

Changing the deposit date of a customer's deposit

Okay..  I tried but doesn't work because I have a bunch of checks under one deposit date..  I need to break apart those checks from that one deposit and put the correct deposit date..  how can I do that? I can only change the deposit date but since all checks are grouped under one deposit, I can't get them the correct date..  I have the Mac desktop qb version..  should I just erase the deposits and re do it?

We can help you reconcile your bank account, Memo79.

I can share information on why checks aren't showing in the reconcile window.

The checks might be missing due to the following reasons:

  • The check transactions are not part of the reconciliation period.
  • Already reconciled.
  • Associated to a different account.
  • Not recorded or deleted.

Let's isolate the issue by checking the transactions in the chart of accounts.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Lists menu.
  2. Select Chart of accounts.
  3. Double-click on the check register.
  4. Review all the check transactions.

You can create the check if you're unable to find them. Check out this article for the complete guide in creating checks: Write checks in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac

In addition, I've added this resource for your reference: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop. This contains the complete procedure to ensure that your QuickBooks balance matches the balance on your bank or credit card statement.

Don't hesitate to post your reply if you need further assistance with the reconciliation or missing checks. I'll be here to help you.

Changing the deposit date of a customer's deposit

Hello..  I just gave one question regarding PPP loan..  I recorded the partial forgiven amount  and have been recording the payments by doing the enter bill and splitting into principal and interest..  but after I click save and close I would think there is an automatic record of this transaction in my account for bank account..  there's nothing..  do I need to put manually this transaction by going to chart of accounts, list and checking and create a check??  That way it reflects its coming out of my bank account just like it shows in my bank statement?

Changing the deposit date of a customer's deposit

Good day, @Memo79.

I'll help you record this transaction in QuickBooks.

You don't have to go to the Chart of Accounts and create a check to record this transaction in your bank account.

Since you've created a bill, make sure to record its bill payment and choose the correct account. This way, we can ensure it would reflect in the banking register. Here's how to settle your payables in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac:

  1. Go to the Vendors menu, then select Pay Bills.
  2. Choose the correct accounts payable account from the drop-down list.
  3. Select the checkboxes of the bills you want to pay from the table.
  4. Enter the date you paid the bill.
  5. Choose the payment method.
  6. Click Pay Selected Bills.
  7. Select Done, or select Pay More Bills if you have other bills you need to pay.

If you're still unable to view it in the banking register, run some basic troubleshooting steps. There might be a minor data issue in your account that's causing this behavior.

To start, update the program to its latest release. This will refresh your company file and download the most up-to-date features and fixes. Here's how:

  1. From the QuickBooks▼ dropdown, select Check for QuickBooks Updates.
  2. If a newer version is available, click Install Update.
  3. When prompted, select Install and Relaunch.
  4. Once the update is complete, QuickBooks for Mac automatically opens.

If you're still getting the same result, run the Verify and Rebuild Data tools. This way, we can identify the cause of the issue and fix it.

Moreover, you can run some reports in QBDT for Mac. This way, you can get an overview of what's going on in your business. Here's what to know about reports and how to create one.

Let me know if you need further assistance with this, Memo79. I'm always around to provide answers and clarifications to your questions. Have a great day ahead and take care.
